“(Muhammad) EVIL omen is ONLY in three: a horse, a WOMAN and a house."” http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/sunnah/bukhari/071.sbt.html#007.071.666
The Bukari is accepted by 99.99% of the Islamic world. In fact, this is where Muslims get their detailed instruction on how to behave...the Quran doesnt give it, but this Bukari (part of the Sunnah) does.
OK...CONSIDER THE ABOVE PASSAGE.
There is evil omen in three things. Notice the ORDER. FIRST the horse, SECOND the woman, and THIRD the house. These were the three most important properties of a Muslim man.
The Bukari lists these property in order of importance, unless you wish to assume God is careless and didnt think of the implications of this order in the Bukari.
The horse was most important property because the horse was a critical means of travel. As in the early American West, a stolen horse could lead to death, so death was the punishment for horse theives.
At least woman second on the property list.

You raise a very good point and thanks for bringing your proof. A lot of people are going to argue that what you're saying is not true. It is true and not very religious either. Women are considered property and are treated badly. What a religion.

I have lived in Saudi Arabia and yes they believe a man is the same value as 4 women therefore the 4 wives are allowed. The muslim women marry into the family ie first and second cousins marry. This has been happening for thousands of generations. The amount of deformed births is horrific. The husband is the only one able to sign for any operation of his wife, if he doesn't sign the op doesn't get performed. guess what if he doesn't want that wife with child - Yes no ceasarian section. Women may bot drive therefore 8 yr old male children drive their moms around. Cops don't stop them, cause if he is a prince (plenty of these in Saudi) the cop can be thrown in jail ...etc muslim...No Thanks

Not 99.99% of Muslims accept Bukhari as genuine. Any hadith which contradicts Quran and common sense is absolutely false.
I'm not aware of the context of this statement, so I can not make comments on it, but Islam places women, in particular mothers, at a higher status than anyone besides prophets.

I can only sit here and shake my head in total amazement at the stupidity of some of the answers you've gotten so far.
The Jews of the OT were considered strange by their neighbors, for several reasons...they were "lazy", since they refused to work one day every week, they believed that it was evil to expose their infants to die, and...their women had more freedom and more rights than the women of the surrounding cultures.
Jesus treated women as equals, in a time when they truly were considered "second class citizens"...
Christian men were taught to value and respect their wives and to love them as Christ loves the church....
Of course, these facts are conveniently forgotten.......
I have great compassion for Muslim women, especially those in countries controlled by Islam. At least American Muslims can choose to leave if they wish...without getting their heads cut off.
Why, a white Muslim girl, in our country, can even date a black man, and her father and brothers can't kill her (unlike girls who date outside of their race or religion in Muslim countries)!! Now, that is FREEDOM!!

Your problem is that your trying to understand something from books and no experience. This behavior makes you seem as foolish as your questions, so go experience the religion if your interested, but don't tell them your interested in some other religion more, you may have a parting of means if you do because they do not have to be kind to infidels according to their Prophet.

Why does the bible say it's ok to beat your wife?
Why does the bible say that women who aren't virgins on their wedding night be stoned to death?
Why does the bible say a woman should be stoned to death if she's raped and nobody hears her screams?
Why does the biblical god place scabs on the heads of haughty women and uncover their genitals?
Why does the bible say the value of a woman is half that of a man?
You see, your myth holds women in no greater esteem than their myth.

Christianity does that:
Exodus
"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, ... nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's." In the Bible, women are the property of men; they are his possessions -- like an ox or an ***. 20:17
Or, Leviticus:
27:3 And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver...
27:4 And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.
