Ok, here it is. Why is it that society today embraces 'tolerance' but does NOT tolerate christianity. What I mean is it is 'ok' for a person to wear a muslim shirt in school but the second someone wears a cross or says the name Jesus every one shuts them down. If we are supposed to accept lesbians, gays, gamblers, etc etc why cant people accept a christian?

I don't know what you mean about shutting down crosses and Jesus. I have not seen that at schools. Is that really the case? You can't wear a cross to school? Hmmm.

wear the cross under your shirt. It wasn't like this in my school, but yours probably doesn't want any open displays of religion. Wearing a "Muslim shirt" is just a type of clothing. It might suggest the Muslim religion, but it isn't outright part of that religion. A cross is. If they walked around with the Muslim symbol I'm sure they wouldn't allow that. I'm just guessing here though. And don't try to play the non tolerance of Christianity. As a white male, I don't ever complain about being persecuted, because i know I am on top of the social food chain in the US. As a christian, you are part of the vast majority in the US.

I totally agree. I was thinking about this last night! I think that Christians aren't tolerated because we are thought of as Intolerant. Muslims are a whole lot more intolerant then Christians, but Christians don't go blowing up things in the name of Jesus.(Of course their are extremist) But on the whole, the normal Christian poses no threat. I think people are tolerant/scared of Muslims because of all the terrorists groups in the world. Thats a little off topic... sorry

Probably because it's the christians who aren't tolerating the lesbians, gays, gamblers, etc., etc. because they think they're more "moral" than they are. Why do Christians say they're for inclusion but exemplify exclusion? (As you even said yourself, you're "supposed to accept" those people - clearly, you don't actually).
Take a look at yourself in the mirror before you go around pointing fingers.

The situation is not as bad as you make it sound. Anywhere political or religious clothing are forbidden, (like school) they do not (or should not) discriminate. It's hypocritical and illegal. If they do and it should be reported to the local school board, the state board of education, and the ACLU.
If you walk the street in a t-shirt saying "Chritianity" on it, you would hear many more positive comments than negative (unless you are in the mideast). If you wore a shirt proclaiming that you are gay, you would get much more public critcism.

Hi - What's interesting about that is 8 out of 10 people in this country are Christian. Therefore, if someone is intolerant of you then there is an 80% chance that that intolerance is coming from another Christian.
Something doesn't seem right about this?

Never heard of a person getting shut down for wearing anything Christian--loads of people in my hometown (even in old university) wear cross jewelry and those awful "Jesus is my Homeboy" t-shirts all the time.
Perhaps you are being a wee bit oversensitive?

Just be a gay christian then they'll except you.
I don't see the majority of Americans being oppressed so chill out. Our school system is a fascist one that contridicts the democracy that it is contained in. You'll just have to accept it until you become a Republican and then you won't care about poor public school children or their education so I guess you'll just have to accept it.

I've personally found that through humour, the Lord has allowed me many open doors at work (Federal Government), of all places, and people respect and enjoy (I might add) my stories. I personally think it's all in the approach. (I learned what NOT to do when I was a baby Christian, and had no real wisdom or discernment). lol I learned my lesson!!

UnderGroundJesTer,
On one end of the subject, I think that it's because we are supposed to be hated. Jesus said so. He said that it was because He has taken us out of the world.
On the other end of the subject, we can try to bring the true Gospel message to those who have been brought a perverted form of it. That is: those that preach condemnation instead of the Gospel.
Your stance on this issue will either make you an enemy of Satan, or a friend of his.
