If you're using a tanning bed, it may not take as long. Sometimes, sunbatheing outside takes a little longer. However, you shouldn't spend too much time under the lights or in the sun. Always protect you face with sunscreen and shades. The skin on your face is much more sensitive than the rest of your body and may be more prone to burns and damage. No one wants wrinkles on thier face! If you haven't been in the sun for a while, you should start out w/ just a few minutes at a time. About 5 w/ a bed and maybe 30 w/ the sun. Gradually work your way up, spending just a little more time in the sun every other day or each week. If you are fair complected, do not rush. Staying out too long can cause serious skin damage and unconfortable burns. Have fun and relax!

It depends on your skin tone, how well/quickly you tan, how strong the UV rays are (which depends on the weather and the region you live in), the time of year (which is related to how strong the UV rays are), and obviously how long you stay out in the sun. Everyone tans at different rates and some people just burn. When I lived in the mountains, I could fully tan in about 3 weeks (30 minutes to an hour per side once a day, 3-4 times a week). When I moved to a lower elevation, it took about 6 weeks to get the same tan.

it really depends on how long you stay in the sun and how easily you tan..then you go in the sun wear tanning oil. I find it more effective than lotion.
