You are 100% correct. I had to laugh when I read your question, because I got a telephone call last night from a NOW representative who urged me to join so I could fight the "religious right" and its crucade against abortion. I told her, no thank you, I'm against organizations that are pro-abortion. She said, well, we're really not pro-abortion, we're pro-choice. I asked whether she thinks anyone who believes abortion is wrong would support someone else's "right" to kill their child. She had no answer.
The bottom line is: a person cannot hide behind the "pro-choice" label. Either you're for abortion or you're against it. Those who feel they have to paint a different picture are cowards.

The same logic that tells us the so called "Pro life" is really anti choice. I personally don't know any pro abortion people. No one I know is telling women that having an abortion is a great experience that they really should have. Nor do most pro choice people look favorably upon the use of abortion as a form of routine birth control. What pro choice people do believe is that the decision whether to have an abortion or not rests with a woman in consultation with her doctor.
Almost all the "pro life" people I know make exceptions for rape and incest cases and in some situations when the mother's life is immediately in danger. So therefore, it isn't that they say absolutely "no" to abortion, they just want to decide for the woman the circumstances under which she may get one. Therefore they're not really anti abortion or pro life, they're anti choice. They want to make the decision for someone else.
My wife and I were faced with an abortion decision because of genetic complications. We opted not to abort the fetus. Although that was our choice, We would never dream of imposing our decision on someone else. Such decisions are hard in the making and no one really has any business sticking their nose in.

I love the way people such as your self twist words beyond reason to complain that someone is twisting words beyond reason. The problem you have is that the word Choice means that if you want to be pro life, you can be. But if you want to have an abortion, you may do that also. So while pro life goes against Gods gift of free will, pro choice supports what God demands.
The assumption of the pro life nuts is that with abortion there is a killing of a soul. And of course that is not true according to the Bible. If you follow the pro life agenda you will be sinning in the eyes of God and will burn in hell. If on the other hand you follow the pro choice agenda you will be saved. It is your CHOICE.

Most Pro-Lifers are for Capital Punishment... so it's not really Pro-Life. That's exactly what those labels are... catch phrases. There isn't a label out there that people use that it means the exact same thing to ALL of those people... such as, the Meaning of Christianity. Basic things are agreed upon, but not ALL things.
You are right on one thing... abortion or no abortion... THAT is The Choice. I don't make it for other people. It's Legal. Just like it's Legal to go out and drink after you're 21. It's not Legal to drive after that, but people do it. You are not going to save the world.....

Its an asinine and artificial distinction. They hide behind euphemisms because they lack the guts to be open about it, they can't even admit it to themselves. They say "Oh I don't want to get an abortion myself, I'd never get one but I want it to be readily available for other women if they want one." Which makes you pro-abortion rather than anti-abortion. Let me give you a great analogy: I myself am pro-drug legalization. I want all drugs to be legal for any adult over age 18. Personally I would never stick a needle in my arm, I don't have any desire to do cocaine etc. and all I smoke is pot every so often. But I absolutely want cocaine, heroin, LSD, meth, magic mushrooms etc. to be perfectly legal for adults to buy if they so desire. As there are really only 2 sides to an issue for people with guts enough to avoid trying to hide behind cutesy euphemisms, what does my position on drugs make me? Yes, it makes me pro-heroin, pro-cocaine, pro-LSD etc. even though I personally don't want to do those drugs. I want them readily available so I'm certainly not anti-drug, anti-cocaine, anti-heroin etc. And I have no problem at all with someone referring to me as a pro-heroin person or a pro-cocaine person. You see, that's what happens when you truly believe in what you're saying. You don't have to be a chickens**t coward hiding behind gentle-sounding euphemisms. You OWN your beliefs. You stand by them and wear that label with pride.
If you want abortions to be illegal in most all circumstances you're anti-abortion. If you want them to be legal in most all circumstances you're pro-abortion, it's as simple as that. Pro-abortion people, grow a pair and own up to your real beliefs.

An incredibly simplistic way of looking at it. Life is not that simple. Pro-abortion means you think abortion is the only option. Pro-choice means you look at all available legal options - keeping the child, giving the child up or abortion and you make the choice that is right for you.

professional selection. i don't precisely approve abortion as a ethical selection, yet i think of that if a woman needs to get an abortion, she ought to have each and every genuine to. i could in no way get one myself till there became an argument that is volatile to me and/or the infant (including ectopic being pregnant) or if I have been ever raped (God forbid). I additionally think of that no count what the regulation says, everybody is often going to prefer abortions. i could lots extremely have those human beings get their abortions finished in a sparkling enviroment by using a doctor who is familiar with what the hell they are doing than in some lower back alley with a coat hanger.

My you're like a little pit bull aren't you? Just can't let the subject go.....
They are not the same thing. If I say that I will never have an abortion because I believe it to be wrong but I also believe that it is not my place to make that CHOICE for others........then I am pro-choice.
Why is this so difficult to understand?
