I heard that Hyundai's make their cars last a few years just to impress and they have engine and electrical problems. Is this true?

I bought my Accent '02 on that same year, it's going on for 4 years, 80k, and still I've had no problems with it whatsoever. While friends of mine, have bought Dogde, Ford, BMW of the year too, and they've had problems with it in the first few months of use. Koreans may not make fast cars, but they sure make reliable ones.

And I really doubt that "Hyundai's make their cars last a few years just to impress and they have engine and electrical problems", there isn't a timer that sets off on the engine that makes the car go bad after a few years of use

I believe Hyundai has surpassed Honda in terms of quality now. The new Hondas are junk, it's just the name that keeps them going. While Toyotas are better, the high prices lower the value (bang for the buck) of the car. Hyundai went from producing crappy cars to producing some of the best cars out there for good prices.

The only thing is that most people don't realize it and Hyundai's still depreciate quickly.

If you plan on keeping a car ten years and getting good, troublefree use out of it, get a Hyundai.

If you plan on impressing your friends and dumping your car after 4 years on some unsuspecting person and getting alot of money for it, buy a Honda.

Hyundai's are good reliable cars. They have been around for over 20 years. If they made cars that last only a couple of years then they would not have been in business for that long.

Hyundais are definately reliable and economical cars. But, they last for a min. of 5 years. After that, under tough circumastances tend to develop electrical problems. This happens rarely.

Hyundai used to be real crappy cars. Recently they have backed their vehicles with 100K /10yr warranty. I am still skeptical about their quality. I were you, I would consider Toyota or Honda as better choice for your money. They retain their value much better than Hyundai and any domestic piece of junks.

I think the newer ones are more reliable than even the ones from 2000. They improved alot in a few years.

I have an '01 Accent and it has treated me really well. I live in maine and my local auto store has had every part I needed and cheaper then I can find anywhere online. It's going on 100,400 miles and the only problem I have is that I need new coil packs but that's normal.
