What does a minister of music do at a church that would require him or her a full-time salary? I think they should have a secular job in addition to the music ministry job because leading the music every Sunday and Wed isn't that difficult...How much do YOU think they should be paid?

they direct and choose songs for the choir. Many music ministers I know ARE bi-vocatonal. My husband only gets paid part time and he does music and youth (which many music ministers often perfom "double duty" in a church like that), and that is a full time job. He does more work than the pastor who gets paid more than 3x my husband's salary and has less education, too. how fair is that???

It depends on the size of church. Does the church have a choir and praise teams? Do they have a band? Do they write their own praise songs? Do they have children's choirs?

I guess it really depends on the size of church and what the activities are within the church and what the vision of the pastor is for the music.

Of course in mega-churches they do music seven days a week, do their own praise albums, do arrangements and have orchestras, choirs, praise bands.
