KAHALA'S FLUFFY CHOCOLATE FROSTING

1 stick softened butter
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, dark looks best
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/3+ cup whole milk
1 tablespoon vanilla or
2 tsp favorite extract
1/4 tsp salt

Mix butter, cocoa powder, and sugar in medium mixing bowl. Slowly add milk and extract. Add more milk a tablespoon at a time until desired texture and volume is reached.
You may have to make extra. Kids love it on "themselves", cake, or anything else. I like the ease and lack of trouble in preparation

If you have a standing or hand mixer, I've got the buttercreme recipe for you! Generally just leave 1 sticks of butter out so they can get to room temp. Should take 30 to 45 minutes depending on the temp in the kitchen. It will make your life easier to use softened butter for a hand mixer. In a standing mixer you can just throw in the cold butter and the mixer will do the work. Once the butter is beaten until light and fluffy (I usually let it get to double in volume.) You would take a 1 pound box of confectioner's sugar and sift it. Do not skip this step. If the confectioner's sugar isn't sifted you will get lumps in your frosting. You will have a very hard time removing the lumps. Sifting is actually easier so you don't have to go back and pick out the lumps. Slowly add about 1/3 of the sugar and process. Add 2nd batch and then 3rd batch. This helps to ensure a smooth buttercreme. If you add all the sugar at once, more than likely you'll just watch alot of it fly out of your bowl and bigger chance for nasty, lumpy frosting. As the last of the sugar is being added this is where you add your vanilla. You can add about 2 to 3 TEAspoons of extract. Here you can also add the scapping of a vanilla bean. It may sound complicated but I promoise it's not. After a couple of times you'll figure out some techniques that will work for you.

Powdered Sugar Icing I
This flavorful, smooth, slightly translucent, shiny glaze is great for decorating sugar cookies or drizzling over other desserts.

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon butter, softened
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
food color, if desired.

Combine powdered sugar, water, 1 tablespoon butter, corn syrup and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in small mixer bowl; mix until powdered sugar is moistened. Beat at medium speed until smooth, adding additional water if necessary, to reach desired glazing consistency. Tint with food color, if desired.

This is the easiest one that I could find, hopefully you have most of the ingredients. Improvise if you don't have them all.

Okay, if you run out of time to buy frosting or even a cake from scratch
for frosting you can use cool whip and instant jello mix and whip it together(trust me) and then you have instant icing
for cake you can use the cake mix in a box and add a can of soda and voila, you have an instant cake with Icing! :)

Sugar is the ingredient all you need to do is put it in a sauce pan and heat with a pinch of vanilla flavor and H20. bring to a simmer for about 5 - 10 minutes. This is a vanilla glaze.
