I think the homely smell and taste brings back childhood memories for people, and thus they love reminisiing over a nice bowl of the soup...

Because it was the first home made soup you tasted so that is what you became accustom to and therefore like it the best!

It isn't! My home made soup knocks spots off my mums!! And my pasta, pastry and cakes are better than hers! Everything else she does though really is the best! I just wish I could make a stew like my mums :-D

She added that special brand of love only a Mama can add. It took me years to cook like Mama did and now my family says they always think of her when I cook some of the things she cooked while she was alive. I thank God every day that she taught me how to cook......I just wish she were here now......I miss her.

It doesn't, mine does! I'm an immensely better cook than my mum and often cook meals and take them round hers for us to eat! and don't get me wrong, she's not some doddering old dear, she's 53!
