those characteristics when dealing with issues or disagreements. ie, embellishments of how he perceives something, half truths, making you feel like you are on trial, etc. I have pointed this out to no avail & am sure that since he lived on the receiving end of it for 11 yrs., he's pretty conditioned to it but how can I try & impress upon him that it's not right?

Since you have pointed his abusive behavior to him and he continues it, the only way to impress upon him that it is not right is to explain to him you cannot continue in a relationship that is not fair, kind, or loving for both partners. He will either reevaluate his behavior and you may possibly be able to have a healthy relationship or he may not. Either way, you will find out if you should invest more of your time and emotions in this relationship. NO ONE can change someone else, only that person can change their behavior attitudes. I wish you well!

You probably can't. You can't change people. If you're not comfortable with it move on because it probably won't change. If he lived like that for 11 years it's probably more than a habit to him.
