Is it OK? Does it tell you to bring a sandwich and a Jell-O pop?
I keep having Christians telling me that it isn't OK to stone kids in school who steal, cause violence, and are constant problems to techers and students. "What they need is LOVE!!" they say. "Violence will only make them worse", they say.
The same people tell me it's OK to root out and kill terrorists. Don't they need love too? Are they somehow different than children who bring guns and knives to school. Aren't we just making them angrier?
What does your Bible say? "Turn the other cheek"? Or "YEEHAW!! IT'S A KILLIN' FESTIVAL!!! GRAB YOUR ANKLES BOYS, 'CAUSE ITS A WHOOPIN' TIME!!"
Better answer quick, because I have your Bible next to your stupid flag on my barbeque grill...

Deuteronomy covers this type of killing very nicely.
For example:
Kill those of other faiths. 12:30
If your brother, son, daughter, wife, or friend tries to get you to worship another god, "thou shalt surely kill him, thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death." 13:6-10
Kill everyone who has religious beliefs that are different from your own. 17:2-7
If you have a "stubborn and rebellious son," then you and the other men in your neighborhood "shall stone him with stones that he die." 21:18-21
etc...

This does pose a bit of wonderment for me as well. I was taught that God sees all sin as bad with no sort of gradation involved. Stealing a pencil is just as bad as murder and vise versa.
So when God says that we should kill those of another faith is where the line is drawn. Apparently there is a point in which people can no longer be "reached" and God orders us to kill them rather than turn the other cheek.
But the people who are simply a nuisance in school or who cause havoc elsewhere, need love from us so that they don't end up being the ones who can't be brought back. There are many people who bring guns/weapons into school because they are hurt and alone, angry at the world and specific people in school, and they don't feel loved.

"Blackacre" said it well. You can find all manner of stoning, hand-chopping & beating justification in Deut. And if you need some hints on how to do whole groups at a time, including the children, no prob!
From Samuel
"...destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.' "

You better start burning books, then, because the question that you ask needs more than a quick answer.

" Love your enemies as you love your self." God wants believers to seperate our selves from people and things that tempt us to sin. Get the Bible from the grill and try reading it.

The Bible says all of the things you mentioned. It is all mixed up and therefore should be not trusted.

If you can't see any difference between your two examples....well, go hug a terrorist and maybe that will give you a better illustration!

You are mistaking two different words. One is murder from hatred, the other is killing to purify.
