I woke up this morning with severe chest pain (i get it time to time, usually stressed related, i believe). About 2 days ago I did go thru something stressful & have been worrying about that. I feel like someone is sitting on my chest & have severe pain kinda between my beast bone (where my hernia is). Its a gripping pain & i'm a little worried. I have also been experiencing some numbness & pain in my left side & arm. I just dont know what to do.. Not sure if is just anxiety, my hernia, or something even more serious. I know going to the doctor is the obvious answer.. But has anyone else experience this or something related?? Thanks for any help!

Get off the computer and present to the local emergency room... NOW! You're assuming that the chest pain is related to your hernia but you should have been experiencing some type of chest discomfort all along or at least on a more frequent basis. You need to rule out a heart condition.

I have a hiatal hernia too. It's not uncommon for your chest to hurt like that when you're stressed, but you shouldn't have numbness in your side and arm. You need to go get it checked now. Go to the emergency room.

numbness on left side is serious heart problem it may become critical if dont go to doctor immedieately. hernia is different it becomes serious when the testicles become swolen and difficult to walk u will need an opperation for that. but now your life is in danger because of your heart get medical attention urgently dont waste time.

I have experienced the same thing and my other half kept telling me I was having Heart burn. I really thought I was having a heart attack. I ended up be taken off in an ambulance. It turned out to be gallstones and I had to have my gallbladder removed. A scan will show it up. Go straight to your doc. Worst Pain Ever!

I have also had the same thing. Not only will stress trigger the symptoms, the things you also eat and drink can disturb it. Do some research online and start writing down what you consume. You may can find out what triggers it the most.

I don't think the hiatus hernia would cause pain in your arm, a doctor's what you need.
