i think u should pay for the bridal party, and the rest can come if they want!! also, u can be nice and pay for some friends or family who sincerely cannot afford it..other than that, just negotiate a lower rate at a few hotels near there, and list the information in a separate sheet of paper in the invitation. good luck!

If you were holding the wedding at home and out of state guests were attending you would not be expected to pay, the same theroy applies. It is your day and your decision as to where you want to wed. I would have a talk with close family members and explain my concerns and the reasons Hawaii was chosen. I hope you have a great day, it is all about you for the day and don't let anyone rain on the day. Have a fun and happy day and life.

This is a destination wedding, the guests pay for their own airfare and accommodations. I just attended a destination wedding last December with my husband and we payed for ourselves. The key here is that you have to let people know at least 6 months and preferably 9-12 months in advance. Send out an email or save the date card to everyone you might want to attend with the details. Make sure that it's very clear that this is a destination weddiing and include costs. People might need time to save money. Our friends had 40 people come to their wedding; it was great. This is a good way for a couple to save money, especially if you have the wedding at an all-inclusive resort. You won't have to pay for a reception since all food and drinks are included. Good luck.

Well that usually depends, if someone wants to go to your wedding they should pay for themselves....usually couples go out of state to wed, to save some money, so that would defeat the purpose if you paid for everyone. I am not too sure how old you are, but I am getting married in May and my and my fiance parents are paying for the whole thing. Your family should know to pay for themselves.... its your wedding!!! So... in a short version, NO you shouldn't have to pay for guests to come to your wedding, if they want to be there, they will pay, if not..... they won't come.

Guests pay for themselves unless the couple offers. And unless you are oozing with money, you wont have to worry about it. Most destination wedding couples only invite their closest family and friends, and maybe a few others who can afford the trip. It usually isnt large.
One of my best friends was married in Jamaica. I couldnt go (just had a baby) but he offered to pay for my ticket. He ended up paying for his mom because he knew she wouldnt be able to afford it, but everyone else came on their own.

well if you make you guest pay you might not have many guest attending the wedding. if you do plan on having them pay you need to give them a little over a year to save up for their trip to your wedding.

The guests would expected to pay IF they chose to attend. I suspect very few would and those that didn't should be very offended that you expected them to spend a bunch of money to come to their wedding. If that happened to me I would be really insulted and I might not even send a gift....sorry.

Old rule of thumb is- you pay for the lodging, they pay for the airfares But most people are tacky today and make the people pay for the whole thing. Plus Hawaii is really $$, don't except to many people to go.
Me and my FI actually got invited to a wedding like this- they pay nothing, you pay it all and bring a gift. We refused to go and didn't bother going to the shower or sending a gift.
