America as a nation is very good. It stands for truth, freedom, and justice. Or at least that's what it has and should stand for. It may not accomplish these goals, but in pursuit of those goals it comes closer and tries harder than any other nation in the history of mankind.

I'm convinced that America's real enemies lie in those who genuinely hate America. They don't hate it for any valid reason, and if they think they do, they're making a generalization, as most all replies to this post seem to abhor. Rather, they hate it, I believe, out of sheer jealousy. They want what we have, and they hate that they can't (or won't) change in a way to facilitate such a transition.

North Korea - While Kim Jong II hasn't illustrated any outspoken hatred of the US, he is powerful, unpredictable, and imbalanced, not unlike a very large wild animal. He has but to push a button to bring the world upon the brink of nuclear war, and has illustrated that it's an option. It doesn't take much of a leap to label him "very bad."

Iran - Ahmedinejead has clearly illustrated that he means to "whipe Israel off the map." Couple this with a single minded determination to gain nuclear capability, and one can easily grasp his future intentions, and hence call him "very bad."

Al-Qaeda - No one hates the United States more. Rather than conduct a true war, which they know they wouldn't win, they can only conduct guerilla tactics. This alone would not be reprehensible, except for the fact that they spit in the face of common decency and civility. They deliberately attack civilians, and count a success of such an attack as a victory. That is the line between Americans (or the west as a whole), and Al-Qaeda. Americans have killed civilians in Iraq, but almost never intentionally. And in the few cases that civilians were intentionally killed, the American leadership has stepped in and punished the murderers. It is clearly not America's intention to conduct war like terrorists, unlike Bin-Laden. Al-Qaeda isn't "very bad." Al-Qaeda is evil.

This is NOT true!!!
There are good and bad Americans. In the countries that may be considered our enemies, there are good and bad people also, but they have very bad leaders.

That is a generalization, and an oversimplification, so NO, it is not true.

All Americans are not good (there are some very bad Americans), nor are all enemies "bad" (misguided, perhaps).

Generalizations are the mark of a narrow and uncreative mind.

No - it was that theory and the one that your enemies enemies are your friends is what lead America to funding and training Bin Laden.

You should be overjoyed that America is very good. If not you wouldn't have the freedoms you now enjoy.
