How do you view the society that condemns polygamy and yet when they face with gender inequality (in numbers) they encourage polygamy.?

I do not want to mention the name of the country but it is a non-muslim country. They used criticize Islam for allowing polygamy.

Recently there was a shortage of men in this particular country. Women were left unmarried, to solve this problem at the end they encouraged men to marry more than one wife.

So my dear brothers and sisters, every law in Islam has it's own logic behind it. So study before you just accuse the Muslims and Islam.

Actually, most of the prophets in the Bible were polygamists. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon ,etc, etc.

So I'm not sure why the west condemns polygamy so strongly while at the same time claiming to adhere to the Bible...

Thoughts?

If you read the Koran you well find the root of this is to offer extra pleasure and fun to the new followers of Islam and it is not really to solve any shortage of men problem or any social issues, even Islam allows his followers to have Muslim, Chretien and Jew wives in the same time which I think well cause problem. In Saudi Arabia today the number of men equal the number of women and if we add expats then the number of men is more than the number of women and yet polygamy is very common especially among the rich and mostly for pleasure reason . I agree with you if the number of women in society is away larger the the number of men then may be some temporary arrangement could be done and in this way it is like communist sharing the resources but this should not be the rule for ever as societies trends changes. However did Islam solve the problem of women shortage?

Yeah, sure, right. Youre implying the ratio of women to men in your unnamed country is 2 to 1. Sorry, we don't buy it. Where did all the men go?

Polygamy is just a way for men to have variety in their sex life without being accountable. All men want as many women as possible. Polygamy is for animals

You know ATK,
It's such a non issue with me. But then, I am very non traditional in a lot of things. REally, in the USA there are more reasons for the anti polygamy laws. But I really think that the main fright is from the insurance companies. They would have to be bound in complex family stuctures and would probably lose on their wonderful profits.

Other than that, many do not know history. And that lack of knowledge causes them to believe that this is the right way. Only because of the way they grew up.

I wouldn't mind if you could be married to 1000 wives, but only if it was all within the knowledge of everyone. In other words, not because the dude is being sneaky.

I am not opposed to polygamy, as long as the husband is just and is able to provide for all his wives and children, but I am unaware of any country having a shortage of men. In China, due to the societal preference for boys, permissability of selective abortion, and the "one child" governmental policy, there is a shortage of women, but that can hardly be used as justification for polyandry, can it?

Which country is it, btw? I am very curious.

Excuse me but Islim is not the only religion that encourages more than one wife. Some Christian groups such as the Mormens still in America have more than one wife. Most solars view the coming of Jesus as the turning point from many wives to having only one wife at a time. But man made it a law and man can change his laws to suite the times.

Unsubstantiated claim...what country was this?

Why does every statement that disagrees with Islam considered an attack against all Muslims throughout the world? We aren't the ones generalizing here...

There is some truth in what you say. If a person is morally opposed to something, like polygamy, then you cannot allow it when it seems to be needed. The end never justifies the means. If it's wrong, then it's always wrong.
Polygamy is insulting to women since it says that many women are equal to only one man.

Haha, properly in case you think of you are able to manage extra suitable than one female screaming on your ear (or extra suitable than one guy to bathe after), choose for it. i don't probably help polygamy by way of fact i discover it difficult to have self belief that 3 human beings can all be soul friends, that's something I easily have self belief in: that God creates 2 consenting human beings for the different which will finished the full of two hundred%. (confident, i understand what you're thinking: "it may purely be one hundred%." yet Christ became two hundred% - one hundred% guy and one hundred% God. So why can not 2 finished persons comprise a non-God two hundred%?) in addition to, mutually because it became criminal interior the Bible, you additionally should remember that purely one became enjoyed. Rachel became enjoyed, and Leah became not. Solomon wrote purely one e book to a minimum of one lover. something have been predominantly for procreation purposes as most of the standard international had not been crammed. in recent times we don't have that situation.

Why are you so scared to name this so called non-Muslim country? There is no shortage of men in any country... men are about 49% of the population, in any population with the exception of war, and we haven't seen that kind of war in our lifetimes.
