The other day I was watching Real Stories of the ER on TLC and a woman came to the ER with hiccups she'd been having for 8 days. They tried everything. What finally worked was pressing gently on both temples. It has worked for me the 2 times I've had hiccups since, but neither were serious hiccups. Try it.

There are lots of ways to try, of course sugar and a few other tactics are supposed to work... The one I found to work the best it is to hold one ear shut with a finger and take 3 gulps of water... then with out taking a breath if you can shut the other ear and take 3 more... then just take 3 gulps without holding either of you ears... almost instant remedy...

if you hiccup in the middle it is best to start over..

though if nothing works.. you should be glad to know that they go away in 3-4 hours

This is a weird one, but if you swallow a dry tablespoon of sugar, it will quite often get rid of the hiccups. Water helps sometimes too.

Try to predict your next one and anticipate. LOVE it. Know that it's coming. You'll feel a little diaphram spasm-not one strong enough for a hiccup- and then it should be normal.

Mind over matter!
