Yes put in a little beef stock or Au Jus and boil till 160 deg in the middle of the meatball. To measure this put like three meat balls on the same Thermo. like a skewer.

Yes actually you can....and there are various recipes if you search on boiled meatballs. Here is an example:
http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,can_you_boil_meatballs,FF.html

Here is an example:

BOILED MEATBALLS

1 lb. hamburg, ground
1/2 lb. pork, ground
1 egg
1/2 c. bread crumbs
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. sugar
Pepper
1/2 c. milk

Mix well and in 1 quart of boiling water add balls the size of baseballs and simmer 10 to 12 minutes.

SAUCE:

2 egg yolks
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. pepper

Mix 1/2 water and add to meatballs. Remove from fire and add mixed above to make sauce.

You CANNN... by cooking the raw meatballs in your sauce... but your sauce will usually end up too greasy & the meatball texture too gummy...

Consider sauteeing them in some olive oil, turning until brown on all sides, then finish cooking in your sauce. They'll have a crispy texture on the outside... yum!

Or, you could bake them for about 20 min @ 400, depending on the size. Best wishes!!

I guess. In the Albondigas recipe (meatball soup), it says to just put the meatball into the soup and simmer for 30 minutes. It doesn't say to cook the meatball first.

YES!!!
i love my dad's meatball soup.
you just make your minced meat into a smal propotion(size of a ping pong ball or smaller)and just slowly put it into the boiling water/soup,Don't dump it in unless u wan minced meat soup...
It's also good to boil them before you want to deep fry them as it prevent it from falling apart and you don have the problem of under cooked meatballs in high heat.

yes you can and they are good. i am half mexican so i have this recipe called Albondigas which is meatball soup
1 pound ground beef
1/3 cup of raw white rice
1 raw egg
1/2 cup of chopped fresh mint leaves and/or parsley
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
you can leave out the mint or parsley if you want. and i usually add about a teaspoon of garlic powder and a little bit of chopped onion for flavor

I pre-cook mine in a microwave to get the grease cooked off then put them in the crock-pot with sauce for several hours.

They boil in the sauce,
does that count?

Brown them a little first and then add the liquid to boil them in. If you drop them in fluid before browning them they will fall apart.
