Hi, I have anxiety and depression. I have started taking 25 mg of Zoloft today at 9:30. I have had the following side effects . .diarhea, and head fogginess (maybe a little anxious but thats pretty normal for me right now). The thing Im most concerned about is my pupils are enlarged. What does this mean and is it serious or normal? Will my side effects get worse than this or better?

dilated pupils are a part of anxiety response and has nothing to do with the Zoloft. 25mg is not enough in less than 24 hours to cause any side effects. The diarrhea and "fogginess" are also common to anxiety disorders. You need to chill hon.

it takes a week or so before the meds kick in to your system and start helping. if that doesn't help you may need a higher dose for the staying anxious part of the side effects. in my opinion i would talk to your doctor about "effexor" it's the same as zoloft but with the lowest amount of side effects out there. i've been taking it for three years and i've had no side effects what so ever. the only reason most people are prescribed with zoloft is because it has a generic version effexor does not. thats the only downfall but if you are willing to pay a little more money or have good insurence it's worth it. i started taking 75mg of it the first year and by the second year maybe a little earlier i was put on 37.5mg so i'm going down as we speak. hopefully i can force my way off it completly. anyway that's the best advice i can give and i hope everything works out for you.

Your side effects will get better. Diarrhea is a very common side effect for any medication. I don't know about the enlarged pupils. Call your doctor about that. In the meantime, call your pharmacist. They often are more knowlegable about side effects than docs.

You're probably fine. I don't remember Zoloft causing any of these symptoms. Relax. It takes a few days, sometimes a month for the meds to kick in. So chill.
