to 'plead the blood' is an old fashioned holiness terminilogy. Generally it refers recognizing that there is power in the blood of Jesus... to heal, to cleanse from sin... to conquer satan. Pleading the blood means that the person doing so is invoking that power in his or her life especially regarding a specific problem.
In Revelations 12:11 there is a verse that says "They overcame him (satan) by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony."
There are several songs written about it. John Starnes sings one of the songs.
To plead something... means to do it on behalf of...or applying the power of... it is a legal term.

Do a little bible study...first read what happened when Sin entered the world (God placed curses on man) What happened when Jesus was crucified? He became a curse... Galatians 3:13..Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."...So to plea the blood you are actually asking to have the curses removed from your life. Curses of poverty etc. It can also be as someone else said too, asking to be cleansed by the blood.

To Understand "Plead the Blood", we must first understand the word "Plead". What does plead mean? We use this term in our court system when a defendant has been charged with something. What is your plea? What do you have to say about the situation? The accuser of the brethren has accused us of many things - But we enter our plea to OVERCOME him. That plea is the blood. It stops the TRIAL (words to prove you guilty)! It halts all accusations. It settles the matter. There is NO more excuses or discourse. The blood eradicated all my sins therefore I don't have to PROVE to anyone that I'm forgiven. The blood forgave me! My plea is the blood! What about healing? The scripture says he shed his blood for that too! Jesus said he was manifested to destroy the "works" of the devil. My plea is the blood took care of that sickness. I have faith in what the blood did and therefore I can boldly decree by his strips (shedding of blood), I am healed.
