No that I am NOT going around and telling people- YOU MUST buy me a Christmas present from here.... but my mom was saying she had no clue what to get us for Christmas since we live together and already started decorating and planning out the house. I told her- she could look at my register and get something from there if it's easier. So my mom thought that was a great idea. Now we have a secret Santa thing we have to do with my FI family and you have to write what you want on a slip of paper. ALL of them always end up buying gift cards anyways so I was going tell them to also look at the regestry for ideas.
Is this OK- since it will be helping us get things we need and make life easier for our family or is it enter the "tacky bride" zone?

It's tacky if you seek out people and tell them "hey I'm registered get me a present". It's not tacky if they ask you what you want and you mention "hey we're registered here". Everyone (including me) has an Amazon wishlist, it's the same thing. Heck, I even tell people to make Amazon wishlists so that I know what they want for their birthday or Christmas.

I don't believe that it is tacky. I did the same thing. You have things on your registry that you really want that you either didn't get yet because it hasn't happened yet, or you didn't get at the wedding. If anything, just tell people some items OFF your registry. That way, they don't have to know that it came off the list.

Most of your friends and family have probably already seen the list though, or at least know where it is located...so I wouldn't be surprised if this was already a thought in their head!

I think it's a great idea but only if people ask. People often buy wedding gifts that aren't on the registry maybe they'll be more inclined to buy off of it for Christmas.

i think that this is just what a registry is meant for ideas and things so that people dont have to guess or ask and adding it in with your bridal registry is a good idea because they can see it all at once instead of having to go to different places to view the thing you really want and need

We got married in September, and there are still items on our Wedding Registry, so I'm thinking of converting them all over to a Wishlist somewhere (Amazon.com, probably) and using the new wishlist as a reference for people who ask "What do you want for Christmas?"

I wouldn't point them directly at a Wedding Registry, though. Just my $0.02.

That is a fine idea, just be sure that they buy it from the registry (so that it gets checked off as purchased) or if they dont, make sure that YOU remove the amount you recieved from the amount wanted. :)

Sounds like a good idea to me.
