I had abortion 15 days ago (at that time I was 5 wks gestation). The doctor told us to abstain until 2 wks later, but my hubby and I had unprotected sex 12 days after abortion. To avoid new pregnancy, he didn't ejaculate inside me.

While we're already feeling very upset for the early-sex thing, some new info threw me into an even bigger panic. According to a medical website (which seems quite official), pregnancy is very possible in exactly the same situation we had gone through.

I am so scared. Could someone please please tell me
1) could the second pregnancy, if it did happen, be detected tomorrow (when I'll have my first post-abortion check-up)?
2) could I have a second abortion lately (I really feel myself unprepared for children)?
3) if I did have two consecutive abortions performed, would I still be able to have kids later?

Many thanks in advance!

For those who used horrible words such as "whore" or "idiot" on me: I know many are strongly against abortion, and I admit I was stupid for not using effective birth control method. But, I'm not here to be judged, especially by people who don't even know me and the situation I'm in.

One more short note: I did have started taking birth control pills 5 days after the surgery.(as instructed by the doctor). But not until yesterday did I realize that I would have a month to wait before the pills start to take effect.

If you are taking combined oral contraceptive pills, pills that have two kinds of synthetic hormones, you do not need to wait an entire month until it is effective. You only have to wait 7 days. You waited the minimal amount of time and your husband pulled out. Yes, pulling out is not an effective way to prevent pregnancy but, it does reduce your chances of pregnancy. That in combination with the pill that was effective after 7 days is okay. Your pill pamplet information should tell you that the pill is effective after 7 days. Beleive the manufactuer. It's a lie that it takes a month to get effectiveness. Sometimes doctors tell it to make sure that women are in the habit of taking the pill every day at the same time before having barrier free sex.

You can have a second abortion. If everything goes right and you do not have complications, you will be able to have children later on. Multiple abortions do not increase the chances of infertility except in the way that every abortion has a slight risk and having more than one abortion means you are experiencing that risk more than once.

Ignore the idiots. You're going to have to deal with women haters and pro-lifers alike for a long time. I too had an abortion and luckily I'm strong enough to realise that these pro-lifers are just out there to hurt women and I know better than to believe their lies. Hopefully you will be the same.

When you can't get pregnant, and things look good from the outside, it can be extremely frustrating. You can find the solution here http://pregnancy.kyma.info
The first thing to consider is how long have you been trying. About 80% of couples will get pregnant after 3 months of trying, and about 90% will be pregnant after 6 months of trying to get pregnant. (And that's with well-timed intercourse each and every month.)
If you haven't been trying for at least 3 months, or you haven't been timing sex for ovulation, then you should keep on trying.
If you have been trying for 3 to 6 months, and you're still not pregnant, something may be wrong. Having regular menstrual cycles doesn't mean you're in the clear. There are many possible reasons for infertility. The best solution is to follow some online method as "Pregnncy Miracle" that will probably solve your problems http://pregnancy.kyma.info

In the ninetees the average woman in the former Soviet Union had nine abortions in her life time. If the average woman can have 9 abortions, you can probably have two. Now, the part you've gotten from all the comments above, I've got to give it to you too. Abortion is really hard on your body. And, in the society you live in there are really really effective methods of birth control that are safe, inexpensive, and available virtually anywhere, even rest stop bathrooms sell rubbers. If you openly admit you don't feel ready for children, you definetely shouldn't be having unprotected sex.

Honey, I'm sorry for the things that you have been going through. You won't want to know this, but I have no advice here. The only thing that you can do is tell your doctor tomorrow.
I think that you are being very brave in asking for advice here, knowing exactly what judgmental fools we can be- and I applaud your honesty. You're right, we don't know you or your situation, but we should start being more tolerant of others' beliefs and views on life.
Who knows, maybe the world would be better place if there were less criticism and more acceptance?
I wish you all the best for the future.

Honey, the best answers yo're going to get will be from your Doctor tomorrow. However, if you're married and you and your husband are not ready for children, you HAVE to find a good method of birth control. You're going to hurt your body if you keep having abortions. The reason he told you to abstain from sex for at least 2 weeks, was to give your body time to heal. The best time to get pregnant AGAIN is right after you had a child, or were pregnant.

You could very well be pregnant again, but too soon to take a test!!! You are very fertile after having a baby or abortion!!! If you do not want children right now why not use birth control!!! It seems like to logic thing to do. If you were to have another abortion is could very well make it harder to have a baby!!! You have a lot of scar tissue build up with any type of surgery!!!

First off you can never be too ready for kids...they turn the world upside down and will thoroughly make your life enjoyable...with that said...pregnancy is possible (don't freak out) and more than one abortion is likely to affect your fertility... there are always other options instead of going through another abortion try giving someone who wants kids badly and can't have them your baby....open adoptions are convinent they send you things and tell you how the baby is....on the other had closed adoptions will cut you off completly and the child has a hell of a time trying to find you later.

You need to stop using abortion as a form of birth control!

Grow up- If you're not ready for children then you should stop having sex because getting pregnant is always a possibility.

Look its not good to have to many abortions! It's not good for our bodies to have abortions period! When you have a abortion the walls of your womb become filled with scar tissue! The more scar tissue you have the less you will EVER get pregnant! you will pass your eggs through but you will never get pregnant again! stop with the abortions! you might be able to have kids but then you might not! take precautions and stop being stupid! Get on the pill or some type of birth control!
