Unless I see crops grow because a bible is held above a field, I say it's the sun.

Both. It depends on what sense of the word "life" you are refering to.
Logic and reason tell me that the sun is more life sustaining because without it, our earthly bodies would die, However.....
Without the saving knowledge written on the pages of the bible, our spiritual bodies would die and be forever lost in hell.
Therefore both are extremely important.

The sun. Not one Bible has warmed the planet, made crops grow, or made clouds from oceans. We could not live without the sun, and I live fine without a Bible.

From a theological standpoint, an immortal souls' benefit is more important than that of the mortal body. So, in that case, the Bible (or Koran, Talmund, etc) is more life sustaining.
