My question is that the service light stays on I have gave it a tune up cap rotor wires plugs fuel filter name it i pretty much bought it I VE TRIED CLEARING IT FROM THE MEMORY IT will read the code 12 then does nothing .And if i remember right it all started when i ran it out of gas .But the funy thing is once in a whoile it will stay off but then comes bak on eventully its is one that I am stumped on . ANY ideas thanks for the other anserws that you people gave open to any thing

oxygen sensor. all the things you mentioned really have nothing to do w/ the check engine light coming on. replace your oxygen sensor and it will go off.

Unhook your NEGATIVE battery for no less than 30 seconds to completely clear the code history in your ECU. It is important that you disconnect your negative cable first and reconnect it last any time the battery is unhooked. If you disconnect the positive first, it causes power spikes which can damage the ECU.

Just have a tech ck it with scan tool for codes. only way to know for sure what`s going on.

the o2 sensor may be the problem also the tps(throttle position sensor) may be causing it
