Sony: 7MP 3X optical, image stabalization, highest ISO 1000

Canon: 10MP, 6X optical adaptable lens, highest ISO 1600, Digic III processor (w/face detecting technology). That chip finds its subject and focuses according to how far away they are...hence face detecting technology. I only have a Digic II processor and its a life saver in batteries. I get about 700 photos on 2650mAh Nickle-Medal Hydrate batteries, which is hella good.

Price:

Sony: $500
Canon: $600

In order to take full advantage of image stabalization you need a higher end camera with farther optical zoom and a higher iso... you know to give you the feel of how it corrects camera shake. A simple 5MP 2X optical camera with image stabalization really serves no purpose since you can't do anything to test it. It would help the 5MP to make slightly better pictures...but not a big difference.

To spend $500 on a camera is silly, but you gotta have it. Might as well spend $100 more and take advantage of the features...

Don't be a fannon, go Canon!

Here's a side by side comparison:

There are no reviews for the T50 yet.

Personally, I'd recommend the Canon over Sony. In general Canon has better lens, and picture quality.

The Canon has the best features, and easier to use. Usually better quality cameras as well.

Go with Canon.
