Yes, weight training can increase muscle mass while decreasing fat. Metabolism increases because muscle burns more energy than does fat.

Fat cannot turn into muscle, fat is fat and muscle is muscle, they cannot develop into each other.
Muscle is heavier than fat, so training can make you heavier, also if you train with weights without doing some cardiovascular work aswell you can just end up building muscle under fat. This gives the appearance of being big and buff but you'll never get the definition.
I don't know about the metabolic thing, i shouldn't think the amount of muscle would affect the rate though. More than likely, the more you train, the higher the metabolic rate - so i guess if you are training more you will get biger muscles.

there are alot of myths about weight training and fat, muscle and metabolic rate, I saw a documentry awhile ago stating there is no real thing as a fast and slow metabolic rate. There is a myth that muscle turns into fat if you dont train for awhile, this is a myth the muscle just becomes untoned (loose). Muscle is actually scared tissue, when weight training you tear muscle and it then repairs its self over the top of old damaged muscle hense you get bigger muscles. Your metabolic rate as far I know stays the same. When training if you want to lose fat you need a good cardiac workout to burn off fat the muscle will come with time.

Bigger muscles do not mean more strength, I was a gymnast for 12yrs I had friend that was a body biulder could lift good weights but I and my gymnast friend could lift more weight.

Your fat can't turn into muscle. Your muscles need protein to build. And yes, your metabolism rate goes up if you build your muscles.

No. Fat does not "turn into" muscle. You build muscle (the muscles hypertrophy - grow bigger) and lose fat.

Yes. Muscle tissue requires more energy to maintain than fat does, so your metabolism increases.

No fat does not literally turn into muscle. But the reason this term is used is because if you burn fat, you can then replace it with muscle by building up the lean tissue. Yes, your metabolism will speed up and you will burn more calories, the more muscle you have. HTH : )

Fat doesn't 'turn into' muscle as such, but you burn off the fat and build up more muscle. Not sure about metabolism.

No, fat does not turn into muscle. When you train you build up your muscles, which do weight more, but you burn the fat. It is a common misconception.

Fat does not turn into muscle. You can gain (build) muscle and lose fat though.
