It is because the christian faith was set up to promote a patriarchal society, therefore attracting the men of the pagan religion (which was a matriarchal society) to them.
You can't very well have a female god or child of god who is female if you are trying to push the male superiority angle.
Hope this Helps!

That just happens to be the way the Lord wanted it. After all, He is the author. He can use any gender He likes. He doesn't have to ask anyone about what He chooses to do. I assure you, He meant no harm or slander to anyone in doing so. Don't be so sensitive. God is the God who created everyone. Everyone, male/female, is His created ones until by belief in His Son, Jesus Christ, as the only way to have all their sins forgiven, cleansed and removed by the blood He shed for them at Calvary. Then they become His children, sons/daughters. He wishes the best for everyone. He is not gender sensitive.

It has its origins in a patriarchal society where women had no worth. The opposite, Paganism, was central to a matriarchal society where women did have worth and the Goddess was worshipped in addition to the God. The patriarchal society did everything in their power to wipe out the other as best they could because it was in opposition of their beliefs and to some extent they were successful. Things have not changed much over the centuries and millenia.

In Islam God does not have a gender, God is referred by name Allah and sometimes God is referred as He or We.
God having a son is a deviant concept and it's rejected by both Judaism and Islam. Trinity was never preached by Jesus. Even though he referred to God as Father and to Angel Gabriel as the Holy Spirit. Christians took the words literally.

Semantics and a misconception of translation.
In most languages the neutral sex is the male sex. Kind of like how you call a co-ed fraternity a fraternity and not a sorority. English works much in the same way. When you talk about both sexes or a neutral sex you refer to it as the male sex.
Some translations are starting to use more neutral words like parent instead of father, but I feel like it takes some of the power out of the words. When you're so concerned about making everything PC you might lose some real meaning.
Don't worry. God is not a bigot.

That's easy. When one says 'she', one inevitably refers to the difference of the female to the male in sex, first of all. But God is sexless, a being of spirit. Sex is a creation of God so that human beings can reproduce and multiply. This is easy to understand from contemporary society - worshipping a "goddess" inevitably leads to talk of sex, like it or not. Rather than call God "it", God is addressed in pronoun as "He" in the Bible.
BTW there are no multiple "gods", goddesses or 72 virgins or sex in heaven. These are creations of pagans.
Deutoronomy 32:17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

God is neither he or she and the same with Jesus the Christ in haven. In heaven there is neither male nor female, slave nor free, we will all be one in whatever the spiritual state is. The term "HE" is used because of culture at the time showed great respect to the older male. We are told He is not flesh nor like flesh of mankind. Our spirit is in His image, not our bodies. He made male and female in his own image -- therefore it cannot be the physical.

Because that is how God decided to describe himself in the Bible.
If God wants to be a HE, then who are you or I to argue with God?
