My wife's cousin from the UK brough over a jar of marmite on her visit and I just can't get enough of it. How come no one seems to know much about it here? Are you guys keeping it a secret from us Yanks? (LOL)
PS. I hope I'm not creeping you guys out- a Yank who loves marmite. But I do!!

I absolutely hate the stuff. It is disgusting, vile, rancid.
It's so bad, in fact, that when I see a jar in my cupboard I feel obliged to eat the lot, as fast as possible, so my girlfriend doesn't have to suffer the taste.
She gets mad at me and says I should leave some for others. I tell her I only do it because I love her but she doesn't understand.

Although a brit I'd never had Marmite until in my early 20's (Mum didn't like it so never had it at home. Bad parent or what?!).
Now - Like It Very Much!
But for new users - don't put much on your bread/toast - start small!
A.A. Gill wrote a brilliant piece about Marmite. "So, it's lovely so you eat lots?" "er no, the less you have the better it is" kind of thing.
Amazing food.

I do Marmite is the best! Marmite on toast yum yum,and no you dont creep me out i think its cool a yank likes marmite!

I luv marmite 2!!!! but im british so its a pretty normal thing here ... I stil can't work out y noone else has it I mean it must make a load of money here so y not sell it in other countries?

If you like Marmite, you'll love Vegemite from Australia. Its like Marmite only better. My American born boyfriend loves it.

I'm a lifelong fan. When I was very small I was allergic to it and my cheeks used to go bright red as a result of eating it in the copious quantities which I did. It was worth it! My sons adore it too. It's very unfair that you are so deprived in the USA. Look out for it if you ever holiday in the British West Indies, where it can sometimes be found on the supermarket shelves!

I love marmite, try it with toasted cheese on jacket potatoes and with boiled eggs it is yummy
