I had a c-section about 7 weeks ago and I still look 4 months pregnant. My daughter doesn't latch on properly so I am pumping the milk. I know breastfeeding helps the body lose the weight. I wanted to know if its the actual sucking that will help the hormones be released to help shrink the stocmach/uterus and can I get the same effect with breast pumping.

Yes pumping is going to cause the same stimulation as if the baby was suckling. Good luck.

No it is NOT the same as breastfeeding. I would call the hospital and check with the breastfeeding nurse to see if someone could help you with the problem of the baby not "latching on". I am surprised you haven't spoken to someone about this before. I am sure since it has been 7 wks, that you AND the baby went in for appts since the birth, didn't you speak to the Dr and Nurse about the baby"not latching on properly"? If not,why not? It is the actual suckling that makes the body react, not a machine that makes it happen. Good luck
