p.s. what is cider? i saw it on online recipes and i dont know what it is... is it like the cider with out the apple?

Apple Cider
A cider is a beverage made from juice pressed from apples.
Here is how we make apple cider.
* 1/2 cup brown sugar
* 1/4 tsp. salt
* 2 qts. cider
* 1 tsp. whole allspice
* 1 tsp. whole cloves
* 1 3" cinnamon stick
* Orange sticks
Warm all ingredients in a stove-top pan. Serve hot.

It's not homemade, but my family tradition(cider add on for generations). We buy at least two gallons of Apple Cider, boil it in a crockpot. As it's boiling have sliced apples, and sliced oranges, drop them in with the cider. My Grandma always added cinnamon sticks, and powder to taste(my mom does that too.)

Hot Apple Cider.
Ingredients
5 cups Apple juice (no sugar added)
2 cloves
2 Cinnamon sticks
Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a medium sized pot and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Cool slightly and serve.
Makes 5 cups.
