Well, I havent read the other answers, but I can gaurantee you that all of them tell you what dog they have and why you should get it... I guess I am going to do the same. But this way you get a good taste of all the dogs

Boxers: Cute, energetic. Great running buddies
They are smart as heck and do lots of tricks if you train them
You can train them to protect and be gentle with the ones they know.
They can be very social if you want them to.
They are just like a human and will let you know what they feel.

Boxers are very very energetic as puppies. They are almost too much to handle. this is why people get boxers then they wind up abused bc they dont learn that quick (about pooping outside and not chewing the couch leg off). It takes patience. Once you get past a year or so (and if its a male, the neudering part) they are really lovable. They are great companions.

I personally think Golden Retrievers are great dogs. They have great temperment and are easy to train. They are extremely smart, obedient, loyal and very loving. They are great with children.

Please, keep the following in mind when choosing what type of dog you should get:

* How big/small is your home? You don't want to get a Mastiff if you live in a bachelor pad.

* Do you have younger kids? If you do, you definitely want a dog that is KNOWN to be gentle with kids. You don't want to take a chance on getting a dog with a known bad temperment.

Example: My friends, who have 4 kids, just adopted a 3 yr old Chow and Rottweiler mix. They had a friend over and their dog bit their friend. Skin wasn't broken, but it's dangerous because their kids have friends over all the time. What if it had bitten one of their kids' friends?

* Are you allergic to pet dander? Dander is "doggie dandruff". If so, you'll want to get a low to non-shedding pet, such as a poodle or poodle mix.

* Do you want a dog as a companion, a running partner or as a home protector? Different breeds have different qualities inbred in them* . Get a breed according to what is the most important trait for you.

* Are you going to get a puppy or an older dog? Sure, puppies require training of all sorts, but they do not have unwanted habits readily available. On the other hand, older dogs do not require potty training and MIGHT be more mellow... I say might because it depends on the breed.

* Most importantly... Do you have time for a dog as a pet? Having a dog as a pet means having time for that pet. Whatever dog you get, it will need your care and attention. That dog will need to be walked every day, or given some type of exercise, such as playing fetch in the backyard. Also note that some dogs, such as * Australian Sheepdogs and Greyhounds, need more "running around" than the average dog because of what is inbred in them.

I hope you do get a dog... they make wonderful pets. Please, whatever you do end up choosing, just make sure you've thought it over thoroughly :-)

Good luck in whatever you decide.

The only dog I advise is a Chocolate Lab. They are awesome dogs. Mine is docile and very kind. I have a 6 yr old daughter and this dog has mothered her since she came home. The dog was 8 months old when I had my daughter. As my daughter was growing up she would pull on her ears and tail and my dog would just sit there. It is almost like she thought of my daughter like a puppy and she loved the attention from my daughter. Even to this day she has never snapped at anyone and she still loves babies.

That depends on the size of your home, If you own a big home, I would suggest a German Shepard, very good obediant dogs...If you have a small apartment, then I would lean towards a beagel or miniature lab....they are good dogs too. Don't go for the expensive kind, just because they are just the same as cheap dogs....only more costly in money. I think German Shepards are the best...they train really well too.

Really depends on what you want I would check out the site below and pick a type of dog you might like. Then go to either a rescue for that type of dog or the local shelter in your area.

I think that the best dog to get is a german shepard or a yellow laborator. Even though they might need a brush every now and then but they are easy to train and they listen really good. They are also very cute from puppy to adult dog.

it depends on your house size , if you hav ne kids, how long you work or at school... and how much money ur willing to spend on food and grooming.
labs are becoming very popular but they need alot of room they eat alot but you only hav to brush them once a week and they do fine in a backyard while at work.

chihhauhaus are the popular of the small breed they dont eat much they do have an anoying bark though and smooth coat reqiure very little grooming. altough they are very hyper and enjoy a 15 minute walk 1 or 2 times a day..

if you get a smaller dog i would suggest a crate or a kennel..

depends on what size dog, what fur length, what you want the dog for...etc...you need to give more info out to so people know what kind of dog to suggest for you

but here's an overall good dog type: jack russel terrier (b/c w/ the mix breeds though and go for young ones)

if you have loads of energy or loads of land then a springer spaniel would be good.
If you are lazy then a cocker spaniel would be good.
if you are willing to keep an eye on your dog and make sure he/she does not dig under the fence and get out then a little terrier would be good.
but the best is a Labrador/Golden Retriever, make sure you get a girl, they are easy er to look after.

It all depends on your living situation. If you live in a apartment then I suggest a small breed. If you own a house with room to roam my favorites are Australian Cattle dogs. They are very colorful, lovable and soooo friendly.
