My hubby drinks wine and wants me to enjoy it with him. I find it all tastes the same, bitter. Everyone says i havent found my flavor yet. Can anyone select a tasty wine for me to sit back and relax to? Oh yeah, please dont select Arbor Mist, my hubby would laugh at me.

I don't know what city or town you might be in, but if you are located where there is a Trader Joe's store, they have wine called Chariot San Giovese. It's a red wine, and it's not the low end wine; nor is it the most expensive.
I am not a wine expert, and a lot of wines kind of tasted the same to me, until I tried this one.

If you buy a bottle and bring it home, your husband will be very impressed! When you drink this wine, you may find that you want to sip it slowly. It's fine when you first taste it, but then there's this "aaaah, hey, that flavor is good, I want to make the sips last longer"...and you'll end up sipping it slower to make it last.

In the white department, a good white wine is a Pinot Grigio, it's not sour, it's kind of sweet but not heavy. If you are not a wine drinker, these words probably don't mean anything to you yet. But if you try the Chariot San Giovese, you'll end up enjoying it slowly; and if you try the Pinot Grigio, it's definitely not bitter, it's kind of light and almost like a light grape juice with more flavor.

Happy Drinking!

Best Red Wine For Beginners

I was in the same position. I only drank white wiones until I got married and then my hubby convinced me to try some red. I still have trouble with the deeper reds like cabernet but I have found that I can tolerate and even enjoy some Pinot Noirs. The other red I really like is Blackstone Merlot. It's really smooth. I started drinking wine on a trip to Greece where wine is very popular with meals. It took a few times but I started to get the taste for it. To gegin I suggest a lighter, sweeter wine such as Chateau St. Michele Reisling. After that, try the others I mentioned. Not sure if you have an Outback Steakhouse near you but they have a progressive wine list, meaning the lighter sweeter wines are at the top of each category. That will help you oh- AND THEY OFFER FREE WINE SAMPLES!!!!

Try a Pinot Grigio. It's a white wine. a little on the sweet side. Does your hubby drink a lot of reds? If you want to try a red with him try this Argentinian wine called Crios. It's a Syrah-Bonarda. I did not find a bitter taste in the whole bottle! I loved it. If you have a World Market in your town you can purchase it there.
And trust me...I would not suggest Arbor Mist...bleh!

I would experiment. Go to the grocery store and pick out some $8-12 bottles of different varietals to get an idea of what they are like. Or maybe try a Coppola Rosso, which is a good mix that's only about $8.

White wine is a little easier to start with because it is served chilled.

If you are drinking wine with dinner, I would go with a dry Italian like a Chainti or Sangiovese. Sweeter wines tend to overpower the food.

The first wine I drank was White Zifandel. There are a lot of brand names that make it, I don't recommend Arbor Mist. I found that Zinfandel was light, and easy going down. My and my sister, was an avid wine drinker then, drank 2 bottles. Now I love wine, it gives you a good feeling without the hangover. Enjoy!

Beringer White zinfandel. This wine is Semi sweet, semi dry, I like it, and it's not expersive. Or better yet try a blackberry wine sometimes called Cabernet Sauvignon Wine. If you want a sweet wine I would also suggest trying white wines--German Riesling at the Spatlese or Auslese level (Spatlese refers to grapes picked later, therefore more ripe and sweet; Auslese refers to grapes specially selected and even riper). 2003 was a very hot summer in Europe so the 2003 German wines may have more ripeness and sweetness than a normal vintage. Look for J.J. Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese or an Urziger Wurzgarten Spatlese or Auslese wine . The Auslese will cost more than the Spatlese from the same producer/vineyard. You might also try a French white wine, Vouvray, made from the Chenin Blanc grape. Many Vouvrays are made with some sweetness. Some California and Washington wineries make a late harvest Riesling. These can be expensive but may be available by the half bottle. Hope this helps

Do you prefer sweeter than dryer? If so, try a Riesling or a Gewurztraminer (German wines). They are white and have a sweet taste.

If you think you will like dry, and like white wines, try an Australian Chardonnay like Lindeman's or Alice White.

You could also try an Sauvingon Blanc- they have a melon taste or sometimes a grassy taste to them. Don't let that scare you. Sauvingon Blancs- especially from New Zealand are great! Try Monkey Bay. These wines go well with salads and pastas with white sauces.

If you think you'll like reds- they are full bodied and have a lot of flavor. I like Pinot Noirs and Shiraz. Again, I like the Australian version.

Give them a try.

If I were you I would buy a bottle of cheap Central Europe wine at 6 dollars and taste it. Then I would taste immediately after a very good bottle of French wine, a Bordeaux or a Burgundy at 30 dollars or more, and taste it. If you do not find any difference, just quit the idea to drink wine and keep on Dr Pepper. It s cheaper and very safe.
