Only put on what is needed. What are you going to do, drive around the block until you reach 1000 miles a month? Just drive where you have to drive and don't worry about it. I used to put on 100 a day. It was a lot of time wasted on the freeway. Now , I drive 15 per day. That is how I pick places to work. How close are they to my house was always the first question. When you put on fewer miles, you can get a break from you insurance company. One of my cars only cost $75 every 6 months cause I don't drive it much. I am limited to 1000 a year, which I never get close to.

As few as possible. If it is low enough sell the car and take taxis instead. Better to ask how little can I spend on payments, repairs, fuel and insurance a year. The only hang up is insurance only stays cheaper if you constantly pay premiums, they don't care if you drive or not so long as they keep getting their money so you need a car to pay the "reduced rate" insurance. It sucks but thats life. But at 600 a month for the car and 1,000 a year insurance you can hire a lot of bus and taxi rides. And you will never get a drunk driving charge or a parking ticket.
