yes, it is not the faith that is going to get you into heaven. Only faith in Jesus is going to get you into Heaven.

The downsides of the Buddhist religion (instead of the ideas within it) certainly include that it has many different schools of thought and points of view, much like Christianity and other religions. There are zealots and there are good and bad teachers(and people).

Your question seems to imply that you have not heard any negatives. There are problems in every religion, but the problems often come from the people practicing it, not the religion itself.

As to the ideas and style of life encouraged, Buddhism requires you to be honest, considerate, compassionate, and learn to not become attached. In that sense it is very challenging and some may see this as a fault.

Buddhists observe & protect all life from the parasite 2 the elephant.

Including the mosquito, the poisonous snake, the rabid bat.
NO Fumigating those fleas, leave the larder 2 the ant & 2 hell with the growing pack of wild dogs in the neighbourhood.
There all have a right 2 life & so far is the only negative side, I've found 2 a fine religion.

I don't. I was raised Lutheran, explored different religions in college and now would call myself an agnostic. Buddism seemed the most reasonable. I never understood how other religions tried to justify babies getting killed & mutilated. Another thing is Eckankar. Some call it a cult, but it's very close to Buddism.

many world religion professors don't like to teach it complaining there is too much nothing

the goal is no desires, nirvana being the blowing out of the candle..... so... in Buddism ultimately desires are considered bad, even hope or pleasures.. I once got chewed out by a Buddist because I said God had desires... and he said I crossed the line

in contrast the God of the Bible Himself has desires and redeems desires, desires are more neutral and can be used for good or bad... Jesus saying "this is the judgement they loved the darkness rather than the light" as if they put their desires in the right or wrong place in a sense

so I consider the Biblical view the richer one, and heaven to be the place not to be a place where desires are snuffed out , a place of nothingness, but a place of rich adventures and even discovery where the glory of God and the desires of man perfectly meet and the redeemed worship God as they discover and ENJOY more and more great views of His majesty

Chubby role model? Scarce facilities in nice places like London & Paris? No cuisine to speak of? Sartorial dullness? Easy to mispell?

It's not the Truth. It doesn't have a method for salvation, and does not even recognize that we humans are sinners. It doesn't recognize the existance, nor the power, nor the love, nor the righteousness, nor the majesty, nor the patience, nor the generosity, nor the perfection of Almighty God. In other words, the downside to Buddhism is that it is another religion, and even though it has some kernel of truth in it, it is not THE Truth, and it is dangerous and false teachings that lead you only to death without God.
