About a week ago my cat Alden went missing in our yard. Our house is about 30 acres but other houses from our front door about 1/2-1 acre away. We often would see him at the beginning of the driveway or across the street. I don't think he has a good grasp of the area...he is one year old and was a house cat for the first half of his life and has been wandering outdoors for 3-5 months. He is a domestic short hair. His sister is a lynx point syamese (exuse my spelling please) who is very social. She has been crying ever since he hasn't returned home. We are doubtful that he ever will. We live in Massachusettes and cyotes have been known to be in our area. Today we were on the cat adoption site and saw two beautiful siames kittens (one male and one female). Would our present cat be open to these new cats? Would she accept them or only be confused more? Would it help her move on? Please give me your input...thanks.

Before you consider bringing another cat into your home, ask yourself how you will keep what happened to Alden from happening to the new cat? Can the new cat stay indoors where it's safe, or will it be put outdoors like Alden was?

If you feel you can keep the new cat safe, then go ahead and look for a new one. It's not "too early" if you're over your grief at the loss of Alden. ((But keep a strategy in mind in case he DOES come home after the new cat is brought into the family; will you still be able to make a place for him?))

Before you bring the new cat home, ask if you can have it meet with your cat for a while to make sure they get along with one another. (Most adoption sites will allow you to visit for this very purpose, because they want to make sure the animals will go into home where they will be accepted by the family and pets).

I lost a cat for months that returned home, don't loose hope. try putting a sweater or piece of clothing out of the person the cat was the closet to. Go out in early morning around dawn and call for him, also try around midnight. It works. In the mean time getting the one you have now might be a good idea, Go for a cat a bit younger so it does not feel threatened by the newcomer.

i'd communicate such as your veterinarian approximately wanting your kitten to bypass outdoors. There are vaccinations that an outdoors cat could get that are no longer as mandatory for indoor cats which includes Leukemia and FIV. you additionally must have it spayed or neutered in the previous permitting it outdoors. you additionally must verify which you do save it on flea prevention alongside with the different pets you're growing to be, if fleas are a controversy the place you reside. verify which you do have a fecal checked consistent with annum, as an outdoors cat has extra probabilities of figuring out on up inner parasites, that doubtlessly would be transmitted to human beings. ideally, i'd say the kitten could in no way be outdoors by irself. it rather is extra in all probability to get in fights with different animals, would desire to accidently ingest something that that's going to no longer, get hit by a motor vehicle, or p.c.. up illnesses from different cats.

I always get new kittens...kittens are the best. When they turn into cats I just trade them in at the aspca for someone else to adopt and get another kitten. Nothing wrong with it!

it all depends on how close your present cat was to your missing cat. it might make it easier or more difficult in choosing when to act.
