You don't have to have badly broken-down teeth to get veneers. They are commonly placed over normal healthy teeth. These are purely cosmetic restorations meant to cover up your teeth and change the appearance.

Also it is very common to have translucent (see-through) enamel along the edges of your teeth. It isn't necessarly a sign of weak teeth. That alone is a pretty poor reason to get venners considering that they cost a lot of money. But if you are dissatisfied with the appearance enough to shell out the big bucks, then veneers are for you.

They can cap your teeth, however, they are costly and your teeth would have to be in good shape to support the caps.
