i feel it is alright to put them in a home...especially if they are brain damaged.....that in itself COULD DRIVE SOMEONE THAT WAS ONCE SANE, INSANE...BUT< what if you hated that parent..they were abusive and just no help...an alcoholic...????? very stubborn...i don't think you should have to care for that parent, when THEY DID NOT EVEN CARE FOR YOU PROPERLY...but a caring home would care for him/her...do you agree?

That's a tough decision for you. I can understand wholeheartedly. Why should you care for them if they never cared for you. If you do find a place for them, who will pay for this? Will you have to take on that burden. If so, I can imagine the hate will grow and grow. You will need to talk to someone about these issues (like a counselor or someone at the home you are putting them into). DO NOT feel guilty. Easy to say, I know, but get on with your life and find someone to talk with.

Good luck and Godspeed.

I am currently trying to care for my mother - who was thrown out of her nursing home when her medicaid benefits were rejected - & I must say that if you are unable or unwilling to care for your parent then you should put them in a home. I work a full time job, take care of my two young children & care for her - it's not easy.
Just caring for her alone would be a full time job - if I were able to do it right. Being a caregiver is hard work, it's difficult at the best of times, but if you harbor resentment or anger towards that person then you are not the person to care for them. You are going to need to find a home where they will not be abused or neglected. Do you plan to visit? or once they're safely tucked away will you stop seeing them? One other thing - don't sign any papers; my wages are currently being garnished to the tune of $255.00 per paycheck for HER nursing home bills - all because I signed her in there. Don't believe a word they say - don't sign anything at all. Ever. Good luck in your decision.

I do not see anything wrong with putting a parent in a nursing home if that is what is needed. As a parent, I would not want my children to destroy their lives taking care of me if I reach that point. Get a referral from a doctor, interview with several places--you're not throwing your parents in the trash; you're putting them in a place where they can receive the care they need. Don't let anyone, including the parent, make you feel guilty for doing what is best for everyone. And, outside of your familiy, it's nobody else's business.

that's effortless to decide somebody harshly for not desirous to dedicate their lives to taking good care of their mothers and dads, in case you have in no way experienced the sensation of having your existence dramatically replaced. how many people who're attacking the asker have definitely theory approximately what that's prefer to ascertain your mothers and dads bare, wash their bodies and alter their daipers? I consistently theory i could be satisfied to preserve my mothers and dads, yet as a single mom with 2 mothers and dads who the two have psychological wellness issues, that's removing my existence, my homestead, my interest, my plans for the destiny. sure that's superb to declare 'I stay my mothers and dads and that i'll consistently look after them' and in case you're doing that precise now with a grin on your face, then stable for you. yet once you at the instant are not, if on occasion you experience bitter and desire you will have a ruin day once you probably did not subject approximately them, there is not something incorrect with that, the two.
