It sounds like you've done your homework. The internet is correct. You should taper the zoloft off in gradual declining doses. If the zoloft is working for you, stay on it. Start weening yourself off the zoloft: break your doses or your pills in half, then start taking the celexa.
Check with your doctor and make sure he or she knows that this is what you've decided to do.
You can check out the website webmd.com and look celexa up or go to a pharmacist and discuss it with them. But don't just stop taking the zoloft. It could make you have really drastic mood swings and sleepless nights.

Did you discuss your concerns with your doctor? He/she knows your history better than anyone here on YA. Everyone reacts differently to medications, so in your case the Celexa may be the appropriate replacement for Zoloft and changing over like this may not cause any side effects. I was taking Zoloft and my doctor switched me to Celexa about 3 months ago. I didn't experience any side effects that I recall. But call your doctor, please! You don't know where the "internet" is getting it's info from, so it's not necessarily reliable.

Celexa is a much lower dosage antidepressant, and has far less side effects that the stronger forms.

Perhaps the plan was to wean you down to 20mg of Celexa? I'd check with a couple of pharmacists (not just one).

GET A SECOND OPINION PRONTO!

I'm not on any of that stuff, but my housemate and BFFL was on Zoloft for a while. She actually had taken it for several months without any side effects, but then they took her off of it and later put her BACK ON it, and then she started having some of the really irritating side effects.

One of the things I've heard her say repeatedly is that it's all too possible for a brain to develop a tolerance for certain meds and so it is necessary to switch out after a while, but I would definitely talk to other professionals about making it such a sudden change. And definitely get some professional consensus that it's time for you TO change. If it's still working for you, there is absolutely no reason to mess with it.

as long as the celexa is at about 5 times as strong as the zoloft, you should be okay. swapping one anti-depressant for another, even if you are recieving a dose of the new medicine that is compatible with the dosage of your previous medication, may make you feel strange for a few days. everybody's body reacts to anti-depressants and other mood altering medications differently. but eventually your body will get used to it. tell your mom or roommate to keep a close eye on you for the next few days (just in case).

Sounds wrong, but I'm not a doctor. Call the pharmacist, he/she should know.

Please ask your doctor, or pharmacist, again. Good luck.
