Would it be inappropriate for me to bring a voodoo doll to work that looks like my boss and keep it in my cube so that he and the other co-workers can see it when they come by to visit? I will only use it if he trys to micromanage me or acts like a stupidhead.

Hmmm... does this pass the "professionalism test"? The answer is "no". Could it possibly do you, or anyone else, any good? "No". Is it an assertive thing to do, that will help you get what you want? "No". Is it disrespectful for a whole lot of reasons? "Yes".

I would fire you myself for being unprofessional. If you would even use a voodoo doll this way you are treating someone else's beliefs very frivolously, and I would consider that, as well, in any recommendations I might make as your supervisor. There are anger management courses out there. Also, if there really is a problem with your boss, you should be taking it to his supervisor, or to human resources. If there is a difference in communication styles and expectations, they can be worked on. If your boss really is a bully, or a jerk, having it documented means that the problem is no longer yours. Always take the high road. It will work for you in the end.

Would it be inappropriate? YES don't do it. You'll just look petty and stupid. And avoid discussing him with co-workers as you never know who the office snitch is. I advise "The full Body Flip off" instead. That is to pull yourself up into absolutely perfect posture. Lift your chin, and give him a simpering smile. If he has given you direction, repeat it back to him, and say i'll get right on that. That way you'll get promoted right out of there, and leave him behind. "The Full Body Flip off" leaves you feeling superior and confident.

Sure. Go ahead and bring it in. Right after you update your resume and have 3 months expenses set aside.

Why not discuss your situation with your boss and learn to understand what he wants and ask him why he micromanages?

I think you are a "stupidhead". If I was your boss I would start looking for and documenting reasons to fire you with cause so I would not have to pay you unemployment.
