I think it depends on how rapidly the cancer spreads. My dad has lung cancer that spread to the brain, throat and liver. He has had radiation and chemo. At first he was ok but after the 3rd chemo his hair was gone and he is so weak he can hardly stand up. The thing with the brain, is where it travels and if it goes to the brain stem. The brain stem controls all you're vital functions, which is at the base of you're spinal cord. If the cancer travels to the area that controls motor skills, your person may not be able to control their movements, ect.

CHEMO is basically poison being poured into a person and it will take a while to clear up. Hopefully there hasn't been brain damage and she will be herself in a few months after treatment. Don't forget how traumatizing knowing that you have cancer is.

Kudos to you for being supportive! Hang in there and if she's not the same person personality wise it won't be too dramatic a change.

My mom was just diagnosed with brain cancer. Just before we found out, she was acting really strange. After they removed as much of the tumor as they could she was about 85% back to "normal". She tends to forget things, and gets mixed up sometimes. She is getting radiation and chemo, but I think it is the cancer more than the treatment.

As per latest reports on Chemo acting on the brain - it does but to only about 25 % of those who go through it. As I understand it from the newspapers I read that people who receive heavy doses of chemo tend to gorget a few things that they would under normal circumstances. It is also supposed to be irreversable but treatable.
