Remember, no nukes or chem bio.
There HAS to be a winner, no sitting on the fence.
No allies either, one on one. Like a backyard fight but on a slightly bigger scale!

The USA. Whilst China has the troops and tanks avaialble, it has neither the means of transporting them or supporting them when they arrive.
China is a static, land based force. America is highly mobilised able to send thousands of troops anywhere within days. China's troops are poorly trained conscripts, many of its armoured fighting vehicles originate from the cold war and are vastly outgunned, outmanouvered and outarmoured by American equivalents.
It should be noted that the M1A1 Abrahms tank is modelled after the British Challenger 2. Currently there is no know weapons platform in existence that can sucessfully destroy a British Challenger. Combine that with an ability to hit a target 5 miles away in the dark and supported by a vastly superior airforce I can't see how China would stand a chance.

Lonnie P - we didn't kick anyone's a** in Korea. Learn some history. It was and still is a stalemate. If we had one there wouldn't be two Koreas.
Celine - That superiority complex comes from our competitiveness. That's why we have such an addiction to team sports.

If China lands troops, they win. If we land troops, they win. On air, and sea we win.

Any American that thinks we'd win just because we're the USA is talking out of their a**.

I think you all need to look at the news and learn that no one wins a war - now a days there are no clear boundarys. I expect if it were in China, more innocent Chinese would loose their lives. If it were in the USA then more innocent Americans would loose their lives. From recent history the US is more likely to start a ground effective, and unfortunately if this were the case only the innocent will suffer and die - its irelevant who they are.

First of all "Darkside" (above) should be shot as a traitor. He must be a liberal Democrat since they always back America's enemies. As to the winner, MUCH would depend on WHERE the conflict is fought. America's logistical capabilities are far superior to China's. If the war were fought in China's immediate region the advantage would be theirs. Anywhere else in the world and America would win and probably easily.

Well, it won't be easy, but USA would win. Although they have superior numbers. I would imagine we have a better military force. AirForce alone would lay a hurting on them and since most of their population is concentrated on the coast, our naval force would need a lot of ammunition. Their problem would be that their major power is in numbers. Now get that number over here is the problem.

Depends where it was fought. US would overcome China because it has a far superior airforce and navy. If US had to invade China though, this would be a huge undertaking. If the people resisted there might not be enough military capacity to subdue them.

My money is on China and here's why.
The US have the weaponry but only pretend soldiers. The Chinese could easily invade and conquer the US using Kung Fu and superior stir fry cuisine. Also, Chinese beer is leagues ahead of that American stuff.

Without nuclear weapons, of which the USA has substantially more, it would be down to a long, hard slog. Any invading army would easily be defeated, on both sides, which leaves air and sea power.
The US has huge air superiority, but given the huge size of China, it would need to bomb it round the clock for months to have any real impact.
They'd best stay friends with each other.

I think the Chinese would win.. If alls they had to fight with is rocks. There is just to darn many of them. We would fire on them till our gun barrels melted off.. then they would swarm all over our troops. Were best off getting along with China..
