Routine is the key..
Feed 4 times per day at the same times daily..Put the bowl away after 10 minutes..
Take her outside after every feeding. She will go about 5-10 minutes after being fed, at her age. It will take awhile for her to learn/develop bladder control, but potty should be easier. Feed on a strict schedule, so that she isn't fed just before bedtime, as she will need to go shortly after being fed..Young pups should be fed and then walked 4 times per day, until they poop and pee...She will need more frequent outings for peeing...( at 9 weeks, every 2 hours) Walk her just before bedtime, to make certain she is empty..
Never scold for mistakes, but give lavish praise every time she goes outside, like she won the lottery.....Pups can only hold their pee for 1 hour, per month of age..So, its important to empty them just before bedtime..
Use the same word every time.
The most important thing is to watch her closely, and scoop her up and outside when she begins to act restless, turn circles, etc. soon she will whine and look at you when she needs to go.
Be patient...If your patience wears then, talk to your mom, and ask her how long it took to potty train you...How many times she changed your diaper, and bedding....lol

She chooses the carpet, because it is most like grass, and the pee doesn't run baack to get her feet wet..

Chihuahuas are hard to potty train but there are a few things you could try. Have you tried paper training? Put newspaper down on the floor or puppy pads. Theree is also a doggy box, it's like a cat litter box but for dogs/puppies. Ther is also repellents you can use to help keep her away from your carpet. Just be patient, punishment will only make it worse.

youthful Chi puppy can go through a drop in blood sugar which would be somewhat unexpected and intense. consequently it is critical to feed them 4-5 cases an afternoon. It appears like your puppy is stricken by low blood sugar(hypoglycemia}. Take some honey or molasses or sugar,on your finger tip and rub it gently into the doggies gums. Get it to eat by making use of offering issues like cooked hamburger or hen with out the exterior. If that doesn't artwork purchase some meat jarred toddler nutrition and consider out to get puppy to lick it off your fingertips. talk on your vet and the doggies breeder approximately hypoclcemia in very youthful Chihuahua doggies.

Well, the easiest way, especially if she is going to be an indor dog, is litter training.

The method is the same for litter and outdoor training. You have to pay attention to her, and when you see her getting ready to go, you pick her up, put her in the litter box (or outside)

make sure to scold her (never hit her) when she goes in a bad place (ie the carpet) and reward her with love and even treats when she goes where she's supposed to!

Hope this helps!

You need to crate train her. Here is an explanation of crate training and a link with intructions on how to crate train. We crate trained our dogs and it works out great.

http://www.inch.com/~dogs/cratetraining.html

"Providing your puppy or dog with an indoor kennel crate can satisfy many dogs' need for a den-like enclosure. Besides being an effective housebreaking tool (because it takes advantage of the dog's natural reluctance to soil its sleeping place), it can also help to reduce separation anxiety, to prevent destructive behavior (such as chewing furniture), to keep a puppy away from potentially dangerous household items (i.e., poisons, electrical wires, etc.), and to serve as a mobile indoor dog house which can be moved from room to room whenever necessary.

A kennel crate also serves as a travel cabin for you dog when travelling by car or plane. Additionally, most hotels which accept dogs on their premises require them to be crated while in the room to prevent damage to hotel furniture and rugs.

Most dogs which have been introduced to the kennel crate while still young grow up to prefer their crate to rest in or "hang-out" in. Therefore a crate (or any other area of confinement) should NEVER be used for the purpose of punishment.

We recommend that you provide a kennel crate throughout your dog's lifetime. Some crates allow for the removal of the door once it is no longer necessary for the purpose of training. The crate can be placed under a table, or a table top can be put on top of it to make it both unobtrusive and useful."

My chihuahua puppy is an indoor puppy & I've trained her with pee pads & she rarely!!! makes mistakes & she's only been doing this for 2 months. They're VERY smart!

I started with the grass scented pee pads & now I just get the cheapies & they can be used for about a week & I've had NO problems with smell :) TREATS TOO!!!

Good luck!!

Take the dog out on a leash like everyone else!!! Rat dogs are harder to potty train in general.

the best way to train a puppy is to crate train. Buy a small crate at the pet store. Keep your pup in crate for short periods at first, she will not use the crate, this will train her to hold it.
good luck!

Buy a crate

Only let her out supervised and when you first take her out of the crate take her outside to potty.

Use a rolled up paper to hit YOURSELF after every accident. and repeat after me "I forgot to watch my puppy" . Pups this young need constant watching just like toddlers, when they start to sniff around looking to pee, wisk them out the door. When you can't watch them confine her safely to a crate. Save chewed shoes & electric cords too.
