I am looking for a pet insurance company that covers hereditary and congenital conditions with NO dollar limits. Does anyone have Pet Insurance and what does it cover. I am currently trying to decide between Petplan USA and all the other providers. Can anyone tell me about their pet insurance coverage. Thank you.

I like the Care Credit card.. It is only for vet care, and gives you up to 18 months to repay with no interest.

.the problem with pet insurance, is that they require YOU to make the payment up front, and then reimburse your payment, with a deductible.
..
with Care Credit, you have the credit you need for any emergent situation, so don't have to have cash on hand..
go to > http://www.carecredit.com/patients/whatis.htm
click on 'find a provider'..choose 'veterinary', and put in your zip code.

I actually haven't heard of a company that has NO dollar limits, so if you find one, please let me know! But it's funny that you should mention that because we went with Pets Best for just that reason -- we wanted the highest limits we could find. Pets Best has something like a $99,000 lifetime limit, which hopefully will be adequate! :) I know they also have an incident limit of $7K, but that was double the limit of some of the other companies I checked, and I don't have to worry about a schedule of benefits that limits things by procedure, etc.

I think that Pets Best also covers hereditary conditions to at least some extent, but most seem to exclude them altogether from what I found. Do let me know if you hear differently! We really do love Pets Best, though, and would highly recommend them.

Specifically, we are covered for accidents and illnesses at 80% after our deductible, which is $75. After losing a dog to cancer *after* his being hit by a car (and all the other stories I've heard of high vet bills and of some people who couldn't afford the treatments for their animals), I really feel passionately about spreading the word about pet insurance.

The trouble with the credit card idea, at least for me, is that I know of too many people who have spent thousands of dollars on vet care for their pets, and I would personally rather put that money into insurance than take my chances and have to repay it later. That would be like not having car insurance and just telling myself, "Oh, I'll just put it on the card if I'm in an accident." I don't want that kind of bill on my card. I already have enough debt as it is! Good luck!

VPI was great for me as well. I had a Rottie that loved to eat strange items and Twice I had to do emergency surgery both times costing over $2K. VPI paid me back 90% both times with no problems at all. Thats what I had it for and It paid off multiple times. Very thankful for VPI
