Mace (teargas or pepper spray) is a good way to go... If you really mean business, you can get "bear mace" which emits a huge fog of pain and suffering on the unruley/unfortunate... It's intended to save you from an attack by a grisley, but I'm sure it will work just fine on lesser creatures too...

Define too much. I am very proficient with a choke hold, read that as you are unconscious in about three seconds from the time I grip you up. But I also have a third degree black belt in Aikido 1 in Judo and 1 in Jujitsu, and have helped to train private security, prison gaurds and special weapons units. I've had my a$s handed to me a couple of times by the people you would least suspect. Define too much. Because I prefer to injure them just enough to make them stop the struggle. Never approach or fight a person if you can't win in three seconds or less. To subdue is to incapacitate and render harmless.

Unless you are a police officer or have been attacked by that person, you don't. Otherwise, they will charge you will assault (and you will be convicted, regardless of your intentions).

Aside from that, you do the trick where you take their arm behind their back and twist, maybe hold them against a wall.

Hit them on the side of their knee. This will temporarily immobi;ise a person. Capsicum spray is favoured by most police forces.
