Usually you hear that when there's a wedding shower and you want guests to come for both the bride and the groom. Plus, sometimes there's a jack and jill BABY shower, where again, guests come to support both the bride and groom with presents and such.

A "Jack and Jill" event is an event attended by both males and females. An example would be a "Jack and Jill" stag for both the bride and the groom.
