My great-grandma predicted that there would be a time when women would dress like men (it's coming true women wearing pantsuits, jumpers) and men would not dress like men. She is right and this was over 80 years ago!

Femininity, grace, class, honesty, virtue--if there is a woman like that and if she can be found-- she is a pearl and a great treasure.
It takes great difficulty to be a lady in all situations. It means restraint good judgment, thinking, and acting politely and accordingly. It's also how she carries herself, and her faith in God that makes her SHINE!

Some situations partly demand a more aggressive 'male-like' behaviour. A woman making her mark in a hard nosed business environment for example - which has a history of male domination - will perhaps appear to replicate some male traits in order to compete or survive. That certainly doesn't mean she has less class or integrity....or is less lady-like for that matter.

You infer by association that it's lady-like females who have more class and integrity. Creating an absolute from a perception generally brings bad karma and outcomes. Look at the resulting mess such thinking has created in world affairs.

i ask my self that too.
women seem more interested in copying men then worry about their dignity.
i mean spitting, and fighting in the street wearing dirty clothes isn't very classy and yet i see more of it from women then the men now adays, well i am only 22 but i no it was never like that a few decades ago.
since growing into a women i have become lady like, i wish some of the others would do the same.

p.s bluffmike, your SO wrong about feminists! not all feminists are lesbians who dress like men and want to act like men! that's NOT what feminism is about!!!!!! its more about ending violence against women then anything else.
and they have nothing to do with why some women have lost class OR integrity

We are still here! I use proper grammar and spelling at all times, even when I'm texting or instant messaging. I am well educated and well spoken, and I'm not afraid to use the words I learned in advanced English class in everyday conversation. My mother taught me to cook, clean a house till it sparkles, and sew. I've made complete outfits for my family, and as gifts I love to embroider or cross-stitch something personal. I'm offended by cursing and crude, vulgar language. I expect a man to open doors and pull out chairs. I'm so surprised by the women who think that all this isn't "feminist". What's the point of being a feminist when all you're doing is becoming more and more like a man?

Oh, believe me, there are still a lot of women like that around, but class and integrity have nothing to do with social status. I know women who live near abject poverty who are some of the classiest, most wonderful women you could ever meet, but on the other hand I've also met rich b!tches who behave like the dregs found in seedy bars.

My wife is the EPITOME of class -- educated, well-spoken, very even-tempered, very well-mannered, always finds a good thing to say about everyone, 100% trustworthy, the kind of person people naturally gravitate to because of her grace and charm. Would you believe when I met her she was living with her brother in one of the worst neighborhoods in Detroit? Compare that to the girlfriend I had before her, who lived in a more middle-class neighborhood but had a condo with all leather furniture, a 60" plasma TV on the wall, a top-of-the-line Explorer in the garage, and a wardrobe that would be the envy of most women -- too bad she was about as deep as a puddle and spent most of her time looking down her nose at everyone and everything...

P.S.: Someone asked what happened to men who behave like men instead of wimps -- Uh, gotta call you on this one because it was you and your female counterparts who said you despised guys who were arrogant and competitive and instead wanted sensitive guys. Now you have a group of guys that became sensitive because that's what you said you wanted and now you're calling them wimps?!?!! Why can't the females of the species make up their freakin' minds?????????

I absolutely agree. MTV and earlier, VH1, destroyed them.

I am so tired of people calling me old fashioned because I don't go out with more showing than needs be. I am also tired of people telling me that I need to get away to another city or state.

Hello, I'm working on a masters degree here...when am I supposed to do this and why abandon what I am working for to be less of a lady.

I get tired of people saying that I am too uptight because I don't try to "out burp" a guy friend or because I don't "let it all hang out."

Getting crazy with class is one thing, but I am not going to sacrifice what I believe is self respect to do so.

We are still here, just too many of the other kind to remember we still exist.

What happened to real men who treat women like ladies and show them honor. I will always hold doors for women and on occasion some get offended and said something like. I could do that myself. I respond that, its OK, I will not stop being a gentlemen because you don't like it.

We are here, just not noticed as much as our opposites. Low-class and rude women love to act a fool and get attention, negative is o.k. with them.Really integrity is uncommon now. What next?

The same thing that happened to men who used to be gentlemen. When was the last time a male actually behaved like a gentleman, opening doors, dinner and dancing etc. I think females just got sick of trying to live up to a man's expectation of a lady, when a man really has no room to be critical because majority do not fit the criteria of a gentleman.

It's considered "unfashionable," "uncool," "oldfashioned" ... whatever you want to call it. It makes me sad when people are surprised by good manners - to live in a world where BAD manners are surprising, that would be wonderful. There are still some of us left who don't like swearing, don't like getting drunk off our backsides, and don't whore ourselves around...and we're considered geeky and uptight. Well you know, I'd rather be considered a little uptight, then a rude, boorish individual with no sense of class.

My boyfriend gets frustrated with me sometimes, like he thinks I'm snobby...you know what? Sometimes I am. I get annoyed when people slack off socially, and expect everyone else to just "go along with it." When did we all get comfortable with "whatever goes?" No one likes to take the extra effort anymore.

As for women specifically, society expects us to be cheap, brazen hussies with our thongs hanging out of our pants, and our breasts hanging out of our shirts; it isn't "stylish" to pull yourself together and look like a grownup. It's a tough call, and sometimes it's a tough place to be. I'm finding right now, at 24, that I'm caught between two worlds ... trying desperately to grow into a professional person, and fearing leaving behind those who aren't ready to join me.

As for men: my hats are off to those of you who are gentlemen at heart. Don't be afraid of it :) Spread it around, be an example for barbaric, disgusting men everywhere. It's time to bring back good taste and good manners!
