Religions have been responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths from wars and persecution. Why do people follow them so blindly, without questioning their rational basis?

It's the nature of the beast. We are nothing but animals. And the universe is violent. We fit right in. People like to pretend about God and life because they have no answers as to why we do the things we do. They need some sort of reason, anything to kill. Its our nature.

I have to agree strongly with blissman and the many others who answered this question who stated that religion has nothing to do with all the deaths from wars. Religion is used as an excuse by those in power to gain more power and wealth for themselves. Before religion people used to kill each other for land, for cattle for anything. Its human nature. Although it is true that some people follow religion blindly without questioning any aspects of it, this i will agree with. Im assuming the person who asked this question doesnt believe in religion, maybe they believe in science instead. The same science that creates these weapons which kill so many people.

Religions cause nothing at all, least of all deaths.
It is the politicians and those in power, and their greed that causes wars. And they like doing so by abusing the gullible people who believe in religions, in the first place.
Find your own God in your own heart and say no to evil. Then the worlds would be a better place.

Religion has not caused violent deaths....it is the people using religion who cause the violent deaths of so many.....I just wish people would STOP using religion as an excuse to fight...why don't they just tell the truth....'they just want a fight because they want to be noticed'

In the end god will come for those that believe and those that dont will get left behind.. I always think about what the world is coming too.... so much violence and murders.. I think that the devil telling us what to do instead of believing in godd..... watch yourself and i mean that
