starving diseased mother of eight or ten poor starving diseased children....doing them a favour? Shouldn't we just stand back and let God or Nature do his or it's thing?
Aren't us ingnorant well-meaning doofusses just making the problem worse?

Honestly yes, I'd rather die as a baby than grow up in a hopeless part of the world where my only possible solace is hand-outs.

It is a real paradox.

They need to fix the root problems / issues not just band-aid it. It only makes it worse. They have to get in there in a big way or not at all.

You make a good point.

It is interesting what motivates us. We see a child on T.V. with maggots, and flies around it's nose, tears and snot falling from his/her face. And a huge bloated belly. We give them a bowl of rice that they cannot digest because it along with a cup of milk will explode the child's belly. This child is hopelessly lost. This child will die if I help or die if i don't.

A 30 something white middle class educated man who can make something better of his life is passed up. No one seems to want to help him get back on his feet. He could in turn help be responsible for all the poor hungry children of the earth.

That's like asking "Why did we help the Katrina victims rebuild in New Orleans?" You help because it's the right thing to do. You'd want the same done for yourself.
I understand it's a different scenario, but the point is, you shouldn't just turn your head because someone lives in a different part of the world.

I understand your point. Here's a thought too, maybe we should help our own country's poor, starving children.

the children are not at fault and deserve help. the parents are the ones to blame.those parents are cruel and uncareing.how much education does it take to understand that if you have one starving child that the lot of the next one will be worse

Let's just be thankful it has not yet happened here. Would you want the only hope you have to feed your children is from another country and them feel that way toward you?

I agree with you although many will call you a heartless monster. "We can't let them starve!" By feeding them we ensure they continue to starve as their land will never be able to support the continued population expansion from us feeding them.

Boy, we can't win.

People say abortion prevents such things. They say to our faces, "Why don't you do something about it then, if you hate abortion?"

Then, we do the very thing we've been asked, and now we get it for that!

We can't win! Nothing is ever good enough!
