and for some reason cleaning never stops, I even wipe down the baseboards...the thing is, what is the big deal about having a spotless house? Will my son pick up on this, he is 2 almost. Some friends say that thier homes are spotless, yet when I go over they arent.
But when they come to my home, they always make a comment about how its messy!
What gives?
What are the pros about having a very clean house, is all my work for nothing?

Yes, sweetie, you are! :o) Let me share two quotes with you:

"No one lies on their death bed wishing they had kept their house cleaner."
"Keeping your house clean when you have kids is like nailing jello to a wall."

Also I think friends who judge you by how clean your house is are no friends at all. Do what I did, find some messy friends, LOL!
Enjoy your husband and your little one, that's what is most important.

Well if YOU want a clean house then it IS worth the effort!
Unless you don't like doing stuff for yourself!
I mean i really hope your not cleaning the house for your kid or partner! you should do it for you!
Yes it is endless and sucks most the time!
but put up a chart and have the house hold help out! or NAGG until they do!
lol
the baseboard cleaning type should be done only 2-4 times a year! so don't over do it!

some pro's to having a clean house and why i clean my house is i don't feel embarrased having company over! even if it is a bud from work!.. family member!
some people like myself admire people who can keep up with it and it looks good!
if you have dinner partys or ever cook food for some reason! less worry about why isn't anyone eatting what i made! if they seen your dirty house that is why! if it was clean there will be not hesitation on eatting some food!
it also shows that you care about your home in general and if you care about the place you live life then you must care about other things!

Messy is different then dirty don't forget Dirty is you just wipe up with water no cleaning stuff... but your house can be spot less with stuff....
messy means you still have yesterdays mail sitting on the the coffee table! even tho the coffee table has been starilized!@
Hope it helps!
Just remember it don't have to be SPOT LESS just clean enought for your taste!

There are a lot of good things about a clean house (less germs, less allergens, shows people you take pride in your home, helps you to know where things are when it's well-organized) but in your case I would advise you not to expect it to be immaculate. You have a two-year-old -- it is GOING to get messed up. As for the comments from your friends, let that go in one ear and out the other -- if their homes are not a model of order then they have no business telling you that your place is messy. Your son is a different matter, however. If having a clean house is important to you and you work diligently to keep it clean, that WILL rub off on him. It's always a good idea to teach your children to keep things clean and orderly, but again, don't have expectations that are too high. He is a child, so be sure to cut him a little slack.

You aren't alone. I have 2 kids 3 & 5 and I am constantly trying to keep things clean. If things are cluttered it really gets on my nerves. My husband calls it "buzzing" and he doesn't care either...his mother never cleaned their house so he doesn't see the need. So we have a rule that after 8pm each night when the kids go to bed, I have to stop buzzing and SIT DOWN! I know that nobody really cares but me about the state of my house, but having an organized, clean house is kind of a sense of pride for me. I am a stay at home mom, and I look at that as kind of my "job" to keep things orderly and flowing. So I don't really think there are any real pros or cons about having a clean or dirty house. I just know that for me it makes me happy to keep things clean.

And no, my kids haven't picked up on it yet, but my 5 year old is getting used to having to pick up his own room.

Not a waste of time, but don't get overworked with it either. Keeping a clean house, aka, one where things are put away when not in use, nothing on the floor is sticky, and there's play room for whatever your 2 year old comes up with, is GREAT for the child. Husband's outwordly will not care about this, unless they are neat themselves, but most aren't. However, your child will know how to take care of his things, his room, and then his apartment or house based on what you showed him as a child.

He's not going to help now, your husband won't help now, but when your kid is old enough to help pick up, throw things in the garbage, or in the laundry basket, then good cleaning habits will start to form that will make a HUGE difference in the future -- but certainly not now haha.

My 5 year old now throws out his garbage, puts his dirty clothes in the laundry basket, and is one-the-whole, a clean kid... and I take FULL credit for that :) :)

Eh... ever watch 'Desperate Housewives'. Does Bree share any resemblence with you? I thinky so. You need to relax...really or you'll get yourself miserable. Take some 'me' time. let the home get an incy bit scruffy. Perfectionism is good. But to an extent and I think you're crossed that line. Get a bit of help around the house. or figure out how to reduce your amount of work.
Take a chill pill, man...

No your not wasting your time do you prefer to have a dirty house and for bacteria and germs to be all over the house and for the baby to get sick. So a clean house is good your not wasting time.

I like mine to be clean.... I do "spring cleaning" once a week and clorox is my best freind. I am sure that will go away once the baby comes though.
