High calories as well as high carbs. Alcohol is not monitored by the FDA, but rather ATF which is why they are not required to display nutritional info on its label.

Normally beer, has between 90 calories (light beer) to 210 calories (stout or darker beers). Also 2.6 all the up to 23 grams of carbs, all based on a 12 oz serving. But if you are dieting, you need to eliminate alcohol completely from your diet, as alcohol does aid in the retention of fat in your body and an also increase levels or uric acid which can lead to gout.

If you wanna learn more about what beer is better for you, personally none are good for you, but which ones will make you fatter faster, go to this site as they are independent and are pretty right on with their info:

A) if it's got calories in it then it's going to act just like calories in food.

B) alcohol doesn't have calories but your body thinks it's energy, so while your body's burning alcohol you aren't burning any calories.

A 12 oz beer usually has from 100 to 200 calories. Here's a list of beers with calorie-content, if it helps.

It isn't just the high calories that gets you. Beer is a depressant. That means it slows down your metabolism so you burn fewer calories.

All alcoholic beverages are high in calories and cause you to gain weight. If you are on a diet, don't drink.
