I found a dog food at walmart called maxim..it's in an identicle colored bag as proplan beef formula. Could it be the same food only sold under a different label for walmart?

It might be, but I wouldn't trust it. If you change your dogs food so suddenly they might get sick.(poop!) And if you give them food that doesn't have enough nutrients your dog will start shedding. And some even get red spot's on their belly's. If I were you I would stick to the food he's used to!

no maxim is a walmart brand of dog food, they try to make it look like proplan so they can make you think it is the same. but don't be fooled, store brand dog foods tend to put alot of "unknown" food into the diet, when you look at the ingrediants and it says meat by-product, that is not just meat that is anything and everything you can think of from an animal, although some products suck as Iams put chicken by-products in the food but all this is is chicken meat, liver (needed for vitamins), and skin (also needed for vitamins), i suggest getting a higher quality food than store brand such as Iams, Purina Pro Plan, Hills Science Diet, or Eukanuba, these have the best nutrients for your pet and no extra fillers like lower quality dog foods, good luck

Compare the labels. A good dog food should have meat as the first ingredient. And not a by-product.

Probably not. ProPlan is manufactured by Purina. If it's made by Purina you would be able to read it clearly on the bag/box. It's sounds like a no-name copy.
