I haven't heard of any other religions having to file bankruptcy to pay off all the children and grownups that were molested by the priests.

I guess the bible was right when it said the devil can take many forms. Is the Catholic church one of them?

A large part of the problem is the Catholic church's insistence that their priests be unmarried and celibate. Since no other Christian church has this rule, there are fewer scandals. Married men are far less likely to take advantage of children and less able to since their wives are also heavily involved in the church, particularly in the youth aspect of it.

The only other world religion which requires that priests be celibate is Buddhism. The difference is that not many Buddhist priests stay in the priesthood for life. Most marry after a few years. In fact, it's very common for a boy to enter the priesthood at age seven and leave around age twenty. The advantage of the system is the boys are well educated and have a good religious background which they take into their marriages.

One of the most famous Buddhist priests who left the priesthood was Monghkut, the King of Siam in the King and I. He spent the first half of his life in a monastery and, while he was there, reformed Thai Buddhism. When he was asked to take the throne, he did his best to bring Siam (now Thailand) into the modern age. If he hadn't died from typhus at age 54, he might have become the most notable king in that part of the world. By the way, the reason he caught typhus was he insisted on watching a solar eclipse from the best possible vantage point in Siam. It was in the middle of a swamp.

Statistically speaking, not as much as a million% of Catholic priests have molested a toddler. Why could every physique molest a toddler? provided that they are ill. Edit: there's no grant. it extremely is effortless experience. There are limitless numbers and huge parts of Catholic priests, around the international. some hundred, if that, have been accused of molesting a toddler. If there are 25000 Catholic priests international, and 2 hundred have been accused of molesting infants, which potential 0.008% of Catholic priests have molested young ones.

You must be skipping over those stories because even Yahoo posted a story acknowledging that the rate of molestation among priests was LOWER than the national average. It just isn't as sensational (a story) as if it were a priest. More kids have been molested by teachers than by priests. A whopping 23% of 979 homosexuals surveyed ADMITTED to having sex with an underraged person. Those stories don't make the national news, though.

Well, if this is honestly a serious question, I would have to say I believe the priests of the catholoc church are blamed for molestation of others due to the fact they are the only preachers that are required to be 100% devoted to the father. In other words, they are prohibited to marry. Preachers of other religions are permitted to have wives. And please try to remember not to always make assumptions in life. Assumptions are always from ignorance. You must try to be optomistic. Just because we hear of these awful things, doesn't mean it's necessarily ALWAYS true. On the other hand, there have been things proven about some priests, and it is quite unfortunate. Hope this helps.

The Catholic Church has deep pockets, and lawyers love deep pockets.

There's just as much or more abuse going on in public schools and in other religious groups.

Public schools are well represented by council are protected by politicians and the teacher's unions.

Othe religious groups are too poorly financed and not worth the trouble.

Corruption has existed within the Church since Judas.

God can deal with it, and the Church is rapidly overcoming the problem.

It may be that the Catholic Church is the only one prepared to face up to its responsibilities.

I have personally read of cases involving the Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses. There are fewer members of those groups and they are not as open about the problem as the RCs are.

Catholics don't have an exclusive in that area, they just seem to be the best at it. Most of the Roman Catholic religion is based on lies, made up stories and changed for 1200 years by anyone with an attitude and a quill pen. That they should be duplicitous now is now unusual.

I'm going to assume you mean the Roman Catholic Church. Some say this is one of the Churches condemned in Ezekiel and in Revelations. It's interesting, but not conclusive.

I truly hope its not happening anywhere else. Maybe thats why we only hear about the catholics. If it is, then maybe the catholics are just getting the publicity? (although this is one circumstance where I don't think that any press even bad is good!) I'm not gonna say if the catholic church is the devil-thats up to God.

There are bad and evil people everywhere. Not all priests did what the Church is paying for.

Just seems there are more in their group.

P.S. it's a bogus excuse to say it all happened because they can't marry...they are raping children (boys mainly). That makes them a pedophile...If they were only "lonely" men, they would seek the company of a woman, not a child.
